what exactly is gallileo?
 
is gallileo only for northwest? does it just check award availbility? if it is only nw, do other airlines have similar sites

Galileo is a travel reservations company.

There are various ways to access their information. I'm sure others know much more about that than I do. Some sites linked to FlyerTalk threads give useful info about airline loads based on Galileo data.

Gallileo is a Global Distribution System (GDS) for travel data. There are four: Sabre, Worldspan, Gallileo and Amadeus.
