Northwest/KLM to Launch Auto Close


In October 2002 Northwest/KLM implemented a policy regarding
non-refundable tickets. This policy stated that most
non-refundable tickets issued after September 5, 2002 for
flights scheduled on or after October 1, 2002 would have no
value after scheduled departure unless the ticket reissue is
complete prior to departure. To support this policy, Northwest
and KLM have developed an automated process called "Auto Close".
Beginning June 17, 2003, all electronic coupons with flights
that have a "no show" status will be automatically closed.

If a passenger "no shows" a flight by not notifying
Northwest/KLM prior to departure, the passenger's unused coupons
will have no value. The penalty section of the non-refundable
fare rules reflects the fares that no longer contain value once the flight has departed.

E-Ticket is the preferred ticketing method for Northwest
customers. Customers with E-Tickets enjoy many benefits
unavailable through paper ticketing, including self-service
check-in using nwa.com Check-In or an airport E-Service Center
kiosk.


Ticket Reissue Policy Reminder

Northwest and KLM require that most non-refundable tickets
incurring a voluntary change of itinerary be re-issued at the
same time the reservation is modified. The penalty section of
the non-refundable fare rules indicate those fares affected by
this policy. All change fees and fare differences must be
collected at the time of re-issuance. This provision applies to
tickets from the United States, Canada, Mexico, San Juan and the
Caribbean.
