Upgrade on CO
 

I'm a new NW Silver member and recently purchased a flight on CO metal. I would appreciate feedback from the experts on the following:

A) If my upgrade clears at CO, would I be notified automatically thru MY NWA? or should I call CO directly?

B) I'm not able to secure EMERG EXIT ROW seats. I thought that being an Elite member that was part of the benefits. I'm CO SILVER as well. Should I give my CO acct number to CO, have them assign me the seats I want, and then have CO put back my NW acct in the res? Would my PNR be flagged by either airline's system if I do this?
