Upgrading , M class ticket.
 

Contemplating flying from DTW to PEK, next year. M class tickets availeble, but not upgradeble with miles to PEK. Should I be able to upgrade to NRT, as the flight number changes in NRT.

I am guessing the answer will be "no", but try calling the WorldPerks line to see if it is possible.

I wonder why China is considered a "special" market in terms of mileage upgrades and higher fare classes.

I agree with DJMeatBall, it's doubtful NW will allow this but the only way to be for sure is to call and ask.

China's a "special" market to NW because of the heavy traffic to PEK/PVG... which is also why PEK/PVG see B744 service instead of B742 http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif. I was rather surprised when I found out NW was going to 6 weekly flights (down from daily service) to NRT from PVG.

Just to let you know, I believe that "M" class is not upgradeable to Japan (also HKG). Please check with WorldPerks to verify. "M" upgradeable to the other Asian destinations.
