heartbroken

For mileage alone, I took a trip from Narita to JFK over the weekend only to discover that my mileage posted was zero. How do I avoid this in the future as all my tickets are bought from the same agency and this is the first time not to get credit. That trip would have put me in the platinum category but no chance now for this year.

Your travel agent probably purchased a consolidator fare to save your company some money.

You should check the fares and perhaps verify the fare designator BEFORE the next ticket is issued.

You can call NWA with the fare designator and the res agent will confirm if you will or will not get mileage credit.

Also, if you write to Worldperks explaining that you thought that your travel agent had booked you a ticket that would earn WP credit and that you intend to fly alot next year they may comp you to the Elite tier you were expecting to reach.

There is a certain amount of discretion to comp in these type of situations.

Be sure and write to Worldperks ASAP.

Good Luck!

Um, unless something has changed this year, NW/KLM give mileage on consolidator tickets. Last December, I flew LAN-CPT on a consolidator ticket. It could not be upgraded for the international legs, but I got for mileage credit including over 20k elite qualifying miles.

I have travelled ORD/HKG using consolidator tickets on a few occasions in 2000 thru 2001 and was able not only to get miles, but to upgrade into WBC with miles. Is it possible your WP number was not on your trip record?

I am curious as to what you are seeing on-line at your WorldPerks Account History - Credits in the
Class
Flown/Paid

column

V/V and Q in exception column.

This trip to New York required moving hell and earth to arrange so the losses were only partially financial.

My around the world this summer also had an exemption when KLM rerouted me on Chezk airlines to Prague from Amster****. I certainly didnt bargain for any non-partners.

So I will write but I did regarding Prague and to no avail. My disappointment is overwhelming. I simply cant win.

If you send NW a copy of the receipt for your ticket, won't they give you the miles? You haven't really explained why you didn't get miles for your flight. (Did you ask NW? What was their explanation?) I have always received miles for my NW flights, even on consolidator tickets. NW is well known for giving full mileage credit on all paid tickets. Maybe the only reason you didn't get miles was some computer error. Sending them documentation (i.e. a receipt) of your trip ought to solve the problem.

I've also always had mileage credited on very cheap tickets.

According to my NW (paper) statement the code "Q" indicates "pending internal processing."

Correct. You'll probably get credit within 2 weeks after the flight.
