Printed Timetables No Longer Available

As a cost-saving measure, Northwest will discontinue printing timetables Oct. 27. The timetable will be available on nwa.com in the "Travel Planner" section by selecting "Downloadable Timetable." The timetable can be viewed online or printed.

I figured that these would go soon. No surprise.

You would think they would figure out a way to create schedule for your PDA, Every other airline in the country offer this. NW discontinued this in Jan 02 via AvantGo.

Come on boys, this can't be that difficult!

This is sad to see.... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Glad I picked one up last night.

The timetables are great for planning mileage runs and checking distances--- that info that will never be dated.

Thanks for the heads up.

I have one in my desk that I use all the time to check miles on routes...also carry one with me on trips to check for earlier flights on connections or later flights if delays...sorry to see them go!!

This was confirmed by one of the flight attendants on my flight from DTW-LGA last night. The last printed Flight Schedule is the September 3-October 26,2002 edition.

Too bad http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif the-goat liked 'em too.

In the scope of things, though, it's relatively minor cost cutting measure. At least we still have free domestic IFE, lots of domestic widebody flights, free drinks on int'l flights in coach, and can apply the fare (minus change fees) from unused tickets to new ones for up to a year. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Although not as easy, the schedules can be downloaded off nwa.com and kept in your briefcase.

VERY sorry to see them go. Certainly easier and faster than the interenet -- when you are able to get to the internet. When flights were late and you need to know what your other options are, they were sure handy.

they've taken the printed flight schedules away before (two or three years ago). I'm hoping they will be back. I keep one in my suitcase on just about all my trips (highly useful when I need to look up flights to standby on).

OAG is helpful but can be costly.

goblue Oct 27, 2002 11:17 am

the schedules can be printed from the Web. I believe it is downloadable as an Acrobat file from NWA.com

I always felt they were a costly waste for the most part. Inspite of the fact, I used several all the time at home and in flight. Like to know what my options were along with the miles!

Another tree saved.

The printed schedules were discontinued immediately after 9/11 because of the ongoing schedule changes. I believe they reappeared in the spring '02.

Maybe we are going into another major schedule adjustment period and NWA wants to keep their options open for equipment/flight changes.

Anyone hear anything more about this?

And, speaking from personal experience, sometimes for more than a year. I had a very nice NW agent book my fare once using a nonrefundable ticket that was from 16 months ago and just charging me the diff, less the change fee, of course!

Ask, you never know when someone is gonna go the extra mile for you!
