Exit row window on DC-10?

I'm going MSP-AMS on a NW DC-10 in December, and got exit-row window 22A. Now what scares me is what someone wrote a little while ago about getting no sleep on a KLM exit row window because the lumpy door plastic juts so much into the interior of the fuselage that he actually had far less leg room than anywhere else on the plane, and got no sleep at all! Does anyone know what 22A on a DC-10 might be like?!?!?! THANKS!

change it to 22B or 22H if they are available. Trust me, you don't want to sit in 22A for 8 hours. IMO, anything is better than 22A or 22J.

dwh, definitely switch seats. I would prefer ANY seat in coach over that seat. I've been stuck there before. Luckily there were other seats open on the plane and I moved. you literally will be sitting sideways if you are over 6'0 tall. VERY uncomfortable. Since I'm 6'3 I would probably take a middle seat over this one. If you are under 5'7 or so it should be ok..but bothersome. At least to your left knee. Good luck.

Speaking from a 5' 7.2375" persepctive, I don't really like that seat very much, but if the plane were packed I'd take it over a middle seat.

Sitting in coach is the ONLY time I'm happy to be fairly short.

I believe that seat's legroom for one leg is restricted (the left leg on the left side and the right leg when seated on the right side) due to the escape slide built into the door. The portion of the door which contains the escape slide protrudes significantly, making such a seat extremely uncomfortable.

I am very grateful for your thoughtful replies. Instead of 8 hours of annoyance or maybe misery it will be 4 hours of sleep and 4 hours of good thoughts toward all of you! dwh

SWITCH IMMEDIATELY, unless you don't have a left leg...if that is that case and you can still perform the functions needed in case of an emergency, keep the seat...OTHERWISE take ANY other seat on the plane.
