Finding cheap flights in specific fare classes
Is there any tool for doing this? I may need to buy a ticket to maintain my platinum. I'm within two driving hours of about 6 NW cities and wonder if there is any way to find a cheap fare in the qualifying class.
It's a sort of reverse search..."I'll give you the fare basis, you tell me where I can go cheaply." Thanks. |
Unfortunately, there isn't online, although it will tell you the fare class that you are flying in (It just may not be the lowest fare in that particular bucket.). The best way to do it is decide on a couple cities that would make sense and call reservations, where they can tell you the lowest priced fare for a particular class for any flight of your choosing. One hint: try to find a route that flies on top of a Southwest or other low-fare carrier flight.

You can go to Travelocity. On the Right side of the page, there is a link to Fare Listing. Click on it and it will allow you to input city pairs, date, and Airline and list all the fares for that date on that airline. Its messy, but it will give you some information.

I do something very simular.
First go to Bestfares.com. Select city fare search. For the city you select it will give you a sorted list by price or price per mile from the city you select. Then I would go to travelocity and do A dream map on each of those 6 cities to make sure It doesn't bring up anymore. (If you put a high dollor limit in travelocity it will omit many cheap cities so put in your max). Then go to fare listings as described above and see your NW fare classes. Lastly go to ITNSOFTWARE.COM and do your search. It will often give you flights with 3 or more conections that others wont that will give you more segments or miles. |
Don't forget to look under the airline fare list at expedia which reveals the routing b/w the city pairs. Speaking of which, it seems the routing is being truncated, anyone else having that problem? The customer support staff is clueless ...
