Fraud or something like that.
I just cancelled my first WP award travel and got there cancellation verifaction and refund. Fraud? Not based on the limited information you provided to us.
Some taxes are required on reward travel. Some security fees are required on reward travel. You could have had these explained to you when you initially paid these. Furthermore, it sounds like "there" [sic] cancellation verification indicated that NW is refunding everything you paid. So what's the problem? |
no my question was that if award travel is FREE tickets why was there a "FARE" charge in addition to the taxes. Even if you say it is for 9/11/01 the max is $10 per round trip and even if it is landing fees it should be put as a fee not as a fare charge. I was just wondering if this is common place, to have a fare charge on an Award ticket which is supposed to be free.

Are you looking at a paper ticket? Does the amount listed next to "fare" have a 2-letter designator next to it? If so, it's also a tax. The problem is that the standard ARC ticket stock doesn't have enough lines to indicate all the different kinds of taxes and fees there are today, so they sometimes have to print a tax amount on the "fare" line. You should see an amount of $0 above this, with no designator next to it. That is the base fare.

Examples include YC, US, and XT. As far as I know, these codes are internal to the airline industry (probably set by IATA). - Those with a 3-character prefix are base fares, or total amounts paid. The 3-character code represents the ISO currency code in which the amount is stated. So, in order to detemine the particulars of brians51's situation, we need to know the details of what's printed on his ticket. |
I'm sorry if i wasn't clear in my first posting. This is not a ticket I am looking at. It is mt cancellation ltr to confirm that they did cancel my reward travel and credited my NWA cc back the "Taxes" I was charged, However there are no letters next to it it reads as follows
Fare Taxes ---- ------ 21.08 35.50 which equals what i paid on taxes of 56.58 per ticket. Now my ? was is this actually a fare they are trying to sneak by as taxes or is it real fees ie 9/11 and taxes.
