I've been aboard ATA's 757-300s... and in the back few rows, too. It's disconcerting. The a/c feels VERY long and thin, and the rear Y cabin gives a trapped, claustrophobic feeling -- you can hardly see up to the front of the plane.

Which is longer, the 757-300 or the DC-8-63? I suppose I could look it up.

boeing.com lists the 757-300 as 178'7" or 54.5m.

http://www.zap16.com/civ%20fact/civ%20mcd%20dc-8.htm lists the DC-8-63 as 57.12m

I knew it reminded me of something!!! I remember the DC8's that flew for UA up until something like 1995 I believe.

Flew one ORD to MCO on the 8:00 AM on a Saturday Morning. Incredible experience! Nothing like a couple of hundred screaming kids who couldn't wait to get to Disney World.

Was on an ATA flight not too long ago, and the experience was the same. The A/C is a lot newer though...

Length 187 ft. for DC8- Super 61 and Super 63, according to an airline history website. 142 ft. on the wingspan.

Isn't the 777-300 the longest airliner ever built? I recently saw some ad regarding the 757-300s (it might have been NW promotional copy, I can't remember) saying the 757-300 is the longest twinjet. But I'm pretty sure the 777-300 is longer. Maybe they should have said that the 757-300 is the longest narrowbody twinjet?

The longest airline ever built is the new Airbus A340-600 as far as I know.
The 757-300 is probably a long single aisle, but that's it.

Something like 64 meters long
