Seat Selection page changes?
Anyone else notice their seat selection map change? I'm new at booking on NW, but have done it before. I usually keep an eye on my seats all week in case something better opens up or there is an equipment change.
Yet now all the Coach Choice icons are missing their dollar signs and my name shows up in red. This is for the remaining Itin I have on Friday this week AND for next week's as well. I've experienced this in Firefox and IE. Any idea why this is? Site revamp? |
Looks like they just changed the icons slightly. Visually, it's an improvement. The $E $C icons never looked right to me. That and the $ implied you had to pay extra money, even though Elites and Certain Business entities were exempt. But you would have had to actually read the page to realize that.

Cool. Thanks for replying. Yeah, you can't tell P's are more than just Elite Premium seats either. I've got B and Y fares and I can pick just about any seat on those flights...
At least I know its not just me. |
Just noticed it too while booking a couple of trips. Agree, it is better than the $E and $C. Images are a bit more crisp and individual seats are more defined. Though it makes you wonder who sets the IT priorities over there.

:td::td::td: on the change. The graphics are a bit crisper but the colors don't contrast enough to easily tell the difference between the coach choice and regular open seats. And I would think it would be impossible if you were even slightly color-blind.
I just went to check on switching seats for an upcoming flight and thought a whole bunch of seats had just opened up. Only after clicking unsuccessfully on the seats did I figure out they were coach choice. I'll be adding a post to the nwa.com bug thread as well. |
I agree I don't like the graphics as much. Maybe the E$ was too much, but at least putting $ in there would help distinguish they aren't regular seats.
I'd like to see them clean up the top of the page a bit as well so I don't have to scroll down to see the whole image. Or maybe giving an option to see the full trip with each all the seat location maps available on one page - allow the flyer to customize the size to their preference then. |
Other changes are the check-in process.
I like the it better overall. :td: The "go" button and the "continue check-in" are way to close and could be confusing. It's hard to tell that the Go is for the three options they give you, not to "go" on through the check-in ^ I do like the "Check in without Printing Boarding Pass (print boarding pass at the airport self-service kiosk)" option. It also tells you on the final page: Go to a Northwest Self-service Check-in Kiosk at the airport in Milwaukee, WI to have your boarding document printed. Luggage may be checked at that time. |

They could also make the wheel-chair in the seat, so DSA look like actual seats. That would make the map look more like a true seat map.
I hope you're taking notes Scoop :) Don't you just like your FT User Acceptance Test. |
I like it much better except for the light green for the coach choice seat, I had to adjust the laptop screen position to distinguish between it and a regular open seat. Why didn't they just use the one shade of green and put an E in the coach choice exits seats (just like the regular open seats and the regular open exit seats)?
I also like the "Check in without Printing Boarding Pass (print boarding pass at the airport self-service kiosk)" option, but I think that's been around for a while. |

Hey Scoopy, when are you posting the TATL 757 seat maps? (The ones that show the LAV/Door positions, not the ones where you can pick your seat).

Notes taken. This topic is monitored by the e-commerce ppl, but just as a matter of managing your expectations - I assume that they will take the feedback and add it to their internal list however additional changes to this page may take quite some time.
NW Scoop Needless to say, I'm not longer in web development :) |
