A330's MSP-PDX?

I will be scheduling a trip to PDx and return for the middle of August. Any scoop on whether they will be flying any of the 330's to PDX or back. If so how do you better your chances of gettnig on one of those flights?

bhatnasx Jul 23, 2007 8:09 pm

I'm flying MSP-PDX-MSP in mid-late August & everything's on 757's.

They are not scheduled, so any replacement will be an operational one due to delays from weather, mechanical, air traffic, or other issues. I certainly wouldn't count on getting a domestic A330 from MSP-PDX, but you may get lucky.

The A330 is still scheduled for MSP-SEA runs in mid August. You can always take that and then connect to AS down to PDX. Not sure how much that increases the ticket price by - maybe just taxes/landing fees.

I've become jaded about miles and airlines. However, I still enjoy taking a flight on a new or less common type of plane.

Nowadays, it's Boeing and Airbus. I remember the days of oddities like the One Eleven, BAe146, Fokker 28, DC-9-10, Lockheed L1011, etc. Too bad I missed the Mercure, Concorde, VFW Fokker 614 (a rarity!), Convair 880, VC-10, and Trident.

Thanks I may do just that, I've done the AS leg before not much of an inconvenience.

Well its pretty nice considering on QX (Horizon) you'll get free microbrews/wine and 500 EQM each way for the SEA-PDX legs. ^

I've often thought about starting to book my SEA-MSP travels as SEA-PDX-MSP for the extra miles.

And hot soup (with more microbrews) in the Alaska Board Room, if you have a WC membership. ^ Just did a trip on NW/QX through SEA to YYJ, and the stories of the soup are true!

Soup, eh? I've heard rumors of this but everytime I go into the Boardroom with my WC card and AS/QZ boarding pass its usually at the crack of dawn, so Its usually just a coffee and maybe a bagel for me.

I heard rumors of Chili, but I haven't heard about the soup, yum! Was this upstairs or downstairs? I usually never go upstairs, I hope I'm not missing out on too much up there.

I think living in SEA and flying NW and AS often, I really love the WC membership for this purpose too, and the Boardroom folks in SEA and PDX are SO NICE!

The AS Boardroom soup is really good. I actually enjoyed a cup of it and was impressed that a domestic airlines offered anything hot in a domestic airline lounge.

I am a WC memeber, soup and mcro brews, now that is exciting!! Seriously, I knew about the micros which are really great. didn't know about the soup and my TA advised the flight is about 5pm out of MSP, so sounds like soup now as well.
Thanks for the info.^

According to http://www.mspupdate.com/airlinenews/index.htm the A330 is scheduled to fly MSP/SEA and SEA/MSP between August 7th and 28th.

The MSP-SEA A330 flight is #161, leaving MSP 5:20P, Arriving SEA 6:58P
The SEA-MSP A330 flight is #158, leaving SEA 8:45A, Arriving MSP 1:57P

There's nothing scheduled for PDX-MSP

You may also route your trip to SEA via LAX, which is also seeing the A330 on occasion on flight 319.

Yesterday's soup at the SEA BR was Vegetarian Chili, one of the varieties that they are always rotating. Always something different. The soups are made by Stockpot, and are quite popular. You can find the soup upstairs at SEA - go down past the bar and you'll find it. Different "goodies" on each floor - the espresso machine is on the lower level along with the yogurt. Soda machines and coffee on both floors.

As for connecting through LAX - AS baggage managed to misconnect my bags going MEM-LAX-SEA yesterday. Though the luggage came in yesterday early evening, they decided to wait and call me today about their arrival. At 6:05 AM. Furthermore, they were calling to ask if they could drop off the luggage at the door, since the delivery won't likely be until after 11:30 PM tonight!! More like after midnight. Guess they don't send the delivery service out into Seattle traffic.

No priority security line at T3 (AS) at LAX, and long backups with hordes of children.

Is NW319 scheduled as an A333 or is it a last minute sub?

MSP-SEA-MSP is at least scheduled as an A333 and can be booked as such.

BTW...NW319 was a 753 yesterday, an A333 today and is CXLD for tomorrow!
