Any reason to exceed 100K actual miles?

It looks like I am going to end 2001 with 98,609 actual flown miles on NW, including the 5,000 miles given for the 200% partner match.

Is there any reason to take a short mileage run to exceed the 100K mark? Any unwritten perks for passing that level, etc?

I have exceeded 100K on NW for the past 6 years. The last two years I’ve flown more than 200K. I have received no special perks, unless “we appreciate your continued business” letters count. I was once asked to sit in on a wine tasting/selection board for the First Class wine list. I had to pass (travelling that week…big surprise). I keep with the CO/NW alliance for those FC upgrades and that great little 125% mileage bonus.

Well it may sound stupid, but I'm going for double Platinum this year, on CO and NW. As a NW Plat I enjoy not having to wait for the automated upgrades, especially when they dont go through on CO. On CO it's the waived change fees CO Plat's get. I can use the miles interchangeably on either airline, but have access to the different parters offered by both. Plus hopefully the Ashford gift certs will be back this year....

I'm very close to having enough miles this year to get Platinum twice....150,000 miles. If anything happened at the 100,000 mile mark a number of months ago, I sure didn't notice it. Maybe I'll get a $2 Christmas/Holiday Card instead of a $1.50 Christmas/Holiday card for the extra seat time.

Zipper

can you expand a bit more on your waived change fees, I'm told that this is not a benefit for CO plats (I just made it to plat last week)

On CO it's the waived change fees CO Plat's get.

I can't confirm or deny.... am I sounding like Secretary Rumsfeld or what.... I had read on the boards last spring about change fees being waived, or so I though.... I'm gonna have to go back and re-read some threads again. Sorry if I caused any mis-information.
