New security fee added to NWA transatlantic flights
A new security fee of about US$20 is reportedly being added to all transatlantic flights!

Just waiting for the airlines to add a...
... jetway service fee
... lavatory water use fee
... air conditioning fee
... boarding pass fee
... flight crew income supplement fee
... and the list goes.
What exactly are we paying for when we buy a ticket anymore?

According to the fare rules for NW's cheapest Y fare from BWI to AMS, security charge is US$5 per direction.

The last airline I remember charging a security fee was the original Pan Am.
This was before Lockerbie too.
Just another way to increase prices "under the radar". Another example is the
"Resort Fee" at hotels.

IIRC, NW is actually following KLM's lead on this.
