Dining For Miles

I've been trying to get a faxed list of the restaurants in my area. After over 5 trys on two different fax numbers I have had zero success.

Is there an easier way to get a list?

Try 1-800-818-8339. The same number for Delta. All the airlines use the same company. But you can only register one card per airline, so you have to remember which credit card goes with which airline. You can enter your area code or zip code. They fax pretty fast.

http://www.idine.com

there are those who will tell you that some idine restaurants do not pariticipate in dining for miles, but i have received miles for 100% of the idine restaurants i have visited.

Does anyone has the dining for miles customer service number handy ..... I'd like to check if they posted my restaurant visits.

ba fan Also check your account history at www.nwa.com, when Dining For Miles posts, it shows up under non-flight activity. I have gotten mine and it did not take too long.

However, it may be due to the fact that each of those Idine restaurants is also listed under the Dining For Miles Program.

To test your theory, you should dine at an Idine restaurant that is NOT listed under the DFM program and then see if you get the mileage credit!

After several tries over the past two days on two different fax machines and numbers I cannot get either of the faxback numbers listed on the previous posts to work.

The idine list looks useful.

Thanks Milecrazy

CozumelJen,

I was hoping to see the posting in my account history however since they did not post yet I'm gonna call Dining for miles CS and find out.
Thanks for your suggestion though. Do you happen to know the description like 'Netcentives' or something?

Thanks again.

WorldPerks Dining For Miles is now officially participating in the IDINE program. Visit www.idine.com for the complete list of participating restaurants.

msingh Apr 14, 2001 10:43 am

I called the WP dining automated restaurant listing and found no restaurants available for my area code and a few local zip codes. But the idine website showed a few restaurants in the upstate NY area. which is correct? I live in Rochester, NY and need to visit a few restaurant to qualify for the 10,000 miles promotion.

idomoneus Apr 14, 2001 6:16 pm

Does anyone know if you can get retroactive credit? I ate at a restaurant yesterday that turns out to be in the program, but I hadn't signed up for it yet.

Also, how long does it take miles from Dining for Miles to post?

MIKESILV Apr 14, 2001 8:28 pm

Sorry you will not get credit until you sign up I tried that when I first joined and they just plain refused. I believe there is 3 day period after sign before you canget miles.

Credit time varies tremendously there are about 5 restaurants in this area I visit say about 5 times a month (one each ) I have got credits for 3/31 visits and some from early Feb still missing I would wait about 6 weeks then give Dining For Miles a call they can tell over the phone what they have received and you can fax them a copy of missing ones. Note you only 120 days to send receipts to get you miles or you will lose them. Lost about 2000 miles when I was early in the program.

So do I have this right? It seems to me that if I am in Skydining, NW Dining for miles and American Dining (1 credit card w/each) it would be better to enroll in I-Dining for points and use it for a "bank" and link all my cards to that account to "Bank" them. (I understand American is not involved yet).

Please correct me if i am wrong.

iDine program is $49 annual fee based membership that gives you 20% discount and it runs most of airlines dining programs. BTW airlines dining programs do not have any mebership fee. I can't find any info on receiving points (instead of cash discount/rebate) anywhere on iDine's website.

For the listing of dining programs check out http://www.valueconsumer.com/dining/

Transmedia which was merged into iDine used have dining program where you could transfer to any of 3 participating airlines. I participated for about 6 months but I didn't receive any miles and CSR was clueless about it... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

I called NW Dining for Miles customer service 1-800-818-2040 and tried to get a list or participating restaurants faxed.
The list was sent almost instantly to a fax number with area code 408, but wasn't sent to 309 area.

And the list does differ a bit from iDine participating restaurant list. Some included in the former aren't included in the latter, and vice versa.

maybe i wasn't clear enough in my original post D2B, but i have both lists -- one for idine, and another for dining for miles. i have used my DFM-registered credit card at idine restaurants "that is NOT listed under the DFM program", and have received mileage for them -- every time.

I just spoke to a Dining for Miles rep who was very helpful. Apparently, Dining for Miles and idine.com are the same company. He told me that all restaurants listed on the web participate in the Dining for Miles program. He also gave me a tip:

To get a Dining for Miles current restaurant listing on the web, go through United's Dining program website:
http://www.united.com/dining

It is a very comprehensive listing and United's program is administered by the same company as NW's. This is what the rep told me, so I thought I'd pass it on.

And I noticed that some people say that they can buy a cup of coffee and a donut at a participating restaurant to get miles (for the 10000 miles promotin). How many people have actually been able to do this, as I am finding most restaurants listed in the NYC area to be sit-down or take-out places, but very few "coffee and donut" cafes that would actually be willing to charge $3 on my credit card. I need some credits before the end of April and don't want to spend a fortune http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Good luck!

bfllover Apr 16, 2001 9:34 am

There are quite a few takeout places in my area in the program, and I do not have any problems charging a soft drink only.I did that at the beginning of this promo, although since we only get credit once a month for each rest. I now try to get the most miles for my charge and order for the family--10 miles per dollar is purty nice and they add up fast.I have found places that I really liked that I would have not tried, which I guess is the whole purpose of it.

BA Fan Apr 17, 2001 10:32 pm

Believe it or not but yesterday and today I went out during lunch time to get a take out lunch at Una Mas and Polo Rey in Mountain View but .... 'restaurants' nowhere to be found.

Will try another restaurant from the 650 area code restaurant list tomorrow. Any suggestions for places to go for those who live and/or work in the Mountain VIew, CA area are welcome.

nan358 Apr 18, 2001 12:17 am

Oh BA Fan, I did the same today and couldn't find either!

I went out to Una Mas at El Camino Real, Mountain View and couldn't find it. Later I found that the street address of the particular Una Mas, which was shown as 825 El Camino Real, was incorrect. The correct address is 825 E El Camino Real!

Since the online map is generated on-the-fly using MapQuest.com from the incorrect address, and MapQuest somehow translates the ambiguous 825 El Camino Real into 825 W El Camino Real, it shows the wrong map.

If you tap the correct address into Yahoo! Map (which uses MapQuest), or easier, if you go to www.unamas.com, you can see the correct map. (Even on www.unamas.com street address doesn't seem correct, though???)

nan358 Apr 18, 2001 12:20 am

Tomorrow's lunch will be a burrito http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

[Addition follows]

I'm having a burrito 'dish' right now taken out from the Una Mas Mountain View mentioned above. It was indeed there at 825 E El Camino Real.

I switched my DALC account to NWA for this promotion back in FEB. I am saving Receipts becuase no miles have appeared yet after multiple visits. Anyone know the lagtime on posting at NWA?

Ok nan358,

I'll give it a try again today, thursday! I'll let you know if I got that burito or not!

nan358, is there a building that stands out next to it or something else that makes it easy to recognize?

It is on the South side of El Camino. The same block starts with Albertsons.

The inner-most lane of El Camino around there was closed for some shoulder work for about two blocks, so if you pass that area, you've also just passed Una Mas!
(An update follows)

Sorry my info was out of date. Today I passed by the place and saw road work was over.
I also tried to visit Pollo Rey Mountain View at 1040 Grand Rd...I'm sure it doesn't exist! The place is totally under construction and will be an In-n-Out Burger.

According to the audio recording, MR PIZZA is also a participant. A slice of pizza and soft drink should not be too hard on the budget.

By the way, I noticed that Lyon's was one of the restaurants included, but when I ordered a sandwich the other day (the things we do for mileage points), the mgr told me that they did not participate in any airline - mileage program. I will visit several other places just in case...Am I right to expect credit from Lyon's because it was listed in "Dining for Miles", even though I was told otherwise? what do you guys think?

Has anybody been to DAVID's Deli in downtown? Any tips? I live in Burlingame and I think that the choices in the city are better than here in the Peninsula.

BA Fan Apr 19, 2001 2:22 pm

nan385,

Thanks a lot! I found the Una Mas on El Camino and got the Thai Chicken burito, which will get methe 5th credit and qualify me for the 10K miles.

Thanks a million nan385. Let me know if you have found the Pollo Rey restaurant on 1040 Grand Rd because I will get myself a safety credit just in case.

nan358 Apr 19, 2001 2:28 pm

My odds are that most restaurants aren't aware of being participating mileage programs in some way, because they aren't directly participating with them but with iDine's reward program.

nan358,

I think I will broaden my search for cheap restaurants (read easy credits) to the 408 area code as well.

I still need to get my wife one more credit and than she qualifies as well.

Since I live in Sunnyvale, I did a search on 408 area too. Those marked as "Take Out OK" in Sunnyvale are Pollo Rey, Una Mas and Togo's.

BA Fan Apr 19, 2001 7:42 pm

I think I'm gonna pay a visit to the Pollo Rey in Sunnyvale since I live close to Sunnyvale!

In May I'll be visiting the Napa Valley area with friends and I need a place for fine dining so I'll see if they have some participating restaurants overthere. That will definitely add to the miles. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I'm now having a sandwich lunch taken out from Togo's at Sunnyvale http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Again the map at iDine site shows incorectly...you should copy its street address and paste into maps.yahoo.com to see the correct map. I don't understand why their map shows incorrectly but Yahoo! Maps show correctly, since both uses the same MapQuest's service...

Togo's and Una Mas at Sunnyvale are in the same block (McDonalds and Coco's are there too) on the East side of Lawrence Expy, and is South from 101.

BA Fan Apr 20, 2001 3:06 pm

I had some problems signing up for Idine the other night but I'll give it another try again this weekend. Also this weekend I will visit either Pollo Rey or ToGo's. Most likely Pollo Rey because I don't think my wife get's excited about ToGo's. I'm Ok with ToGo's though.

Unfortunately it's gonna take till the end of May before my Dining for Miles credits will be posted to NWA since I visited participating restaurants only this almost last week of the month and they do their transfer to NWA like the 3rd week or so.

Question to WP or anyone who knows the answer:

If one had a credit card registered with both Dining For Miles (NW WP points/miles) and that same credit card was also registered for Transmedia's 20% dining discount (now I-Dine), would one get both the discount and the WP miles?

If not, which would take precedence?

BA Fan Apr 24, 2001 9:49 pm

nan358,

I saw the Una Mass on Lawrence today, it's easy to find and close to Arques and since I did not get to it this past weekend, we will probably go on sunday night.
