Tomorrow's flight already delayed? 753 swap to 333

So, I'm looking to check in and get on the u/g waitlist, and I see our connecting MSP-PDX, 593 is listed as:

Departs: Minneapolis/St. Paul-Int'l, MN (MSP) Arrives: Portland-Int'l, OR (PDX)
Gate: F14 Gate: D8
Scheduled: 11:25AM Scheduled: 1:00PM
Estimated 11:45AM Estimated 1:19PM
Aircraft: A330-300 Weather: PDX
Note: Delayed due to ground crew operations.

Of course, the seat map shows a 753, and this leaves us with 50 minutes to still make our connection but...is this going to be a swap to a 330 potentially?

Strange that they're already listing a delay. I hope we don't miss our connecting PDX-MFR...

Could be they know the turnaround time in MSP will be longer than originally planned because of the A333. I see that flight 593 is a "direct" DTW-MSP-PDX flight and tomorrow it shows the first leg on a 757 and second on the 330. Maybe they added a little time to let those people (and bags) on both legs get from one plane to the next.

Or it could be a mistake. Or change at a moments notice. I was watching my flight status Tuesday and my 5:11 flight changed to 5:17, 5:23, 5:45, 6:00, 6:15, 6:23 and back to 6:00 in the course of an hour while the plane was still two hops away. The door closed about 5:50.

It makes sense to leave the seat map for a 757 until they are 100% positive the 330 will fly the route. It would not be nice to be the 25th person upgraded only to get booted back to coach of they go back to a 757, or pick 29B expecting an exit row aisle and end up in a middle way back.

There are a surprising number of A333 domestic runs this weekend. Hope some of you get lucky and are put on one. Even without IFE, it's still a very nice substitution, especially if you get the elite upgrade.

Yeah, though I'm down to a lowly SE this year, and the PNR has my non-elite wife on it, so I'll have to see if the WC agents in MKE can help us out

It looks as if 598 is slated to return PDX-MSP as a 333 as well, so I'm crossing my fingers. Even if we're in Y, a 333 is a nice change from the 753.

Thumbs up

I love the early information about delays. Looking at my recent flight from NRT it was delayed by 1 1/2 hrs due to waiting for inbound aircraft. So gave me time to warn my ride and just gave me a clue was to what to expect. Of course also gives a chance to make schedule changes to flights if needed...

What's even more strange, is that NW 460 (DTW-PDX) was cxld today, and is shown tomorrow as a 333.

With the bout of cancellations recently, and the necessity that we get to MFR on time, I'm wondering if a sked change is in order. (Plus, I'd like to be routed through DTW to get on the 333 )

330 at LAX today

I saw a NW 330 at LAX today just after noon. Wonder what it was doing there? (I don't think it was operating NW1 cuz there was also a 744 parked right next to it.)

So, how many more substitutions can you find for the weekend?

I was in LAX today as the 330 was delayed by more than an hour. The pilot came out to explain the delay. In the process he said the equipment substitution was due to a lack of 757s.
