cheapest same-day NW MSP flight?
 

I can do MSP-MDW for about $100 r/t w/14-day advance. I just want miles (need another 5000 flight miles by 2/28 to keep Gold status). anything better than that?

Hmmm...Although the elite status is good through Feb. 28 of each year, mileage earned in a calendar year is used for elite status calculation. Thus, miles earned 1/1/00-12/31/00 are used to calculate your elite status for 2001 (3/1/01-2/28/02.) Why do you need another 5K miles before 2/28/01?

I'm on a gold elite challenge. if I fly 10K miles in 3 months, I get to keep the gold elite status (or 5K I get "demoted" to silver). the 3 months are up Feb 28.

Can you connect through DTW or MEM? Sometimes the fares come out the same. This would certainly help you b/c MSP to MDW only gets you 1K miles otherwise.

You might try Msp Mdw Mdw Den (via MSP) then Den msp. I haven't fared it out recently but did it for around $200 last year.
