upgrade robbery

I flew NW this summer and upgraded using 20,000 continental miles. Northwest re-issued the ticket because of a price drop to give me a $150 voucher. Apparently at that point they also charged my NW account 20,000 miles for the upgrade (without my knowledge or permission).
I just got off the phone with them and they will investigate and I am to get back to them in a week.
They wanted the upgrade numbers from continental which I did not have since I turned in the certificate.
They said they might need for me to verify that my continental account has been deducted 20,000 miles.
Instead I challenged them to show me any evidence or paperwork that I asked for an upgrade using my NW points.
Why should I go through the hassle of proof, when they can't have any record of my request.
How can they take points out of my world perks account without my knowledge or permission for an grade I didn't request?? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

I truly empathize with you! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mad.gif

Sorry! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Hassle is the byword of the NWA flyer, IMHO, and extreme patience and persistence seems to be an essential requirement.

Hopefully, in the end, it will be straightened out! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Just got done talking to world perks supervisor and she said the 20,000 miles would be restored, explained it was a computer error and apoligized. I asked for compensation and she repeated 3 times that compensation was not possible in this situation. I then called NW customer relations's number, and after a wait of 20 min. (which I had to pay for) they said they would resgister a "formal" complaint and gave me 5,000 world perks points.

Am happy about that http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif. The moral of this story is persistance and READ your world perks written statement closely.
