And the snow has all but stopped. Weren't we supposed to have 4-7" by now? ;)

UA has been canceling a lot of their flights to ORD today, and a lot out of ORD, too; my cousin is trying to fly MSP-ORD-CLE. I got her to go talk to NW and then got UA to endorse her ticket over to NW, so now she's going nonstop MSP-CLE with no delays.

;)

MSP in Traffic Management Program

Bikeguy just called to inform me that his MSP-HNL flight was returning to the gate after taxiing for takeoff but was unable to properly brake due to icy conditions.

A quick check with the FAA reveals this:

Due to RUNWAY/BRAKING ACTION, there is a Traffic Management Program in effect for traffic arriving Minneapolis-St Paul International/Wold-Chamberlain Airport, Minneapolis, MN (MSP). To see if you may be affected, select your departure airport and check "Delays by Destination".

Bikeguy
followed up with a call indicating that the airport would be returing to normal operations at 1:45pm local.

I just received an automated call from NW that my flight out of MKE to DTW tomorrow morning has been cancelled. It automatically rebooked me for Sunday afternoon - I'm only going for a day so there was no point in still going - so I called back NW reservations and they cancelled my (cheap economy) ticket with no charge. Agent was very nice and I talked to someone in <2 minutes wait. Nice job, NW.

Glad you were able to get your trip canceled with no issues.

Let's keep in mind this is the MSP-related issues thread, though. DTW will be facing their own issues tonight, tomorrow, and into Monday. Perhaps someone should start a DTW-related thread.

It would be a good idea to keep the posts categorized by MSP/DTW to be the most helpful for people concerned about the respective airports.

Well folks, I'm on AA1524 MSP-ORD, scheduled to leave noon, arrive 1:25pm. Currently, we're back at the gate getting refueled again, deiced... and all other outbound flights on AA have been canceled. But we're hopeful. Let's see.

Right now, MSP is closed.

*And forgive me, forgot I was on the NW forum :)

Runway 12R is now open...

Pick2LiteMSP Feb 24, 2007 1:18 pm

Just arrived NW 182 SAN-MSP. Late at 12:19 PM by 11 minutes.

Pax next to me connecting to EWR at 12:55 went out on time (helped him to gate).

Drive home was icy but traffic moving 50 - 60 MPH all the way. Saw one spinout accident on NB Hwy 100 in Edina.

Hope this clears for early Monday AM MSP-DFW!

SchmutzigMSP Feb 24, 2007 1:23 pm

Major problem at MSP right now is taxiways are iced over and they're facing ground congestion with arriving flights and departing flights using a severely reduced number of taxiways. They're thinking 15-20 minutes before they can start getting all the taxiways opened up.

And all the deice pads are full... :)
