Does anyone know what was up with NW 808 from HNL to MSP today? I came in to HNL on 809 this afternoon and by the time I got to the hotel (Marriott Waikiki) there were people from 808 lining up with vouchers due to it being cancelled for maintenance. Do they usually turn around the A330 used for 809 and use it for 808? Nothing seemed awry on the way in.

Yes, had a mech issue, and the part is being sent in from SEA. The flight will leave in the am. My sister and her family are booked on that flight.

Aren't the HI A330s brand-new? Is this a teething issue, or something more complicated?

They are the same 333s doing transatlantic service (and every once in a while SEA-NRT).

This is the first overnight delay I've heard of ex-HNL. I was on the flight last Sunday when one of the brakes wouldn't disengage. We had already pushed back, and spent an hour with other jets taxiing around us as the mechanics tried to fix the problem. The final solution involved rocking the jet back and forth... a new experience for me.
