Boozeless in Seattle!?!

I flew NW170 on 1/12 while waiting for the flight I spent my time in the WorldClub. However no Alcohol was available No Beer No Wine No Booze. Plenty of Pepsi and mixers but no Booze. What’s the story in Seattle is NWA becoming my mom and telling me I drink too much or was It just a bad day?

Did you ask anyone in the Worldclub? That would be where I would have started.

Say it ain't so. I need my booze. I have a 4 hour layover coming up in SEA in two months. If this is true, this may be enough to prevent me from renewing my membership.

I believe WA state law forces the SEA WC to be one of the only (if not the only) WC without self-service booze. You need to have a WC employee pour your drinks for you.

There indeed is booze in the SEA WorldClub. As clarence5ybr notes, due to Washington State Liquor Control Board regulations, it has to be served to you by an employee.

This is the case with all the airline clubs at SeaTac I've visited, including NWA and AS. There usually is a sign posted saying so.

I spent much time in this WC.. There should be a sign next to the pepsi. The staff is usually very helpful.

There is always a placard on the counter reading, "See attendant for alcoholic beverages." They'll get you whatever you want. Blame the demented King County liquor laws for this one.

The club closes at 6:30 I believe so you may need to go to the Co or AS club. As is hit and miss on a NWA ticket.

Aboslutely hate this in SEA. Everytime it's like I've crossed some line when I ask someone to bring me a shot of something or something as simple as a jack and coke. Bothers me to no end.

The S-wing of SEA is really isolated from the rest of the airport. If you've got plenty of time, go to the PC in the B-wing instead. There's a very friendly Japanese staff member (Libby, if I remembered correctly) who always remembered what you drink. SEA's PC inherited her when AA downsized.

As for the WC, I only liked the place during daylight hours. There's better natural lighting there.

So to clarify....

If there is no bartender present, just ask a WC attendant to pour for you???

The WC attendant is the bartender, basically.

I think this may also be the case at Portland. And, I seem to recall the only alcoholic beverages are beer and wine at the PDX WorldClub. Can anyone confirm?

It is.

And, GA state law prohibits alcohol before 9am on Sundays, so no Bloody Marys after inbound red-eyes to ATL. Short of the story: every state has its own unique laws that the lounges have to follow. They're not trying to short you of your booze.

 Don't they have better laws to pass? Why do some people always feel compelled to restrict something or other when it comes to booze?! I think Europe has considerably less alcohol abuse and there aren't any such laws. Something to think about... @:-)

Don't states and counties have more important issues to tackle? Here's my suggestion: when they get this bored, they should just vote on and pass some thermodynamics laws or something, if they really need to feel that they've accomplished something. :p

Stop messing with booze! The prohibition proved to be a bad idea - why not learn from that?
:)
