Need help dealing with Journey Logic
 

I have an award trip planned for April DTW-NCE. I have the out bound flights I want, but I am having trouble with the return.

Right now I have DTW-CDG-NCE in WBC/Y on 4-5 April - which is perfect, but the return is my problem.

I have AMS- DTW on the 3:40 in WBC on 17 April, but cannot get the outbound conection from NCE @ 9:45 on the 17th, though it is available on a stand alone basis, just not with the connection.

Is there anyway around this journey logic BS?

It often helps to switch carriers. Does AF serve NCE-AMS?

Do European award tix still allow stopovers? If they do, does a stopover have to be overnight, or can it be "same day"? If the latter:

See if they will book it as NCE-AMS (stopover) AMS-DTW

I had an intra-EU PerkSaver award trip a month ago: OTP-AMS-FRA and return. I wanted to make a stop in AMS on the way back but I wasn't allowed to do that.

Yes and I tried that. Actually the CDG-NCE is on AF, but nothing for the return - that includes WBC over the pond....

Actually that is what I have right now. 16th NCE-AMS 17th AMS-DTW - however I would prefer not to have the night in AMS - there are 4 of us travelling(2 free 2 will be purchased). The issue for me is that the 9:45 on the 17th IS available for award space - just not when linked to the AMS-DTW...
