2008 Elite Requalification Roll Call

Time to start reporting on 2008 Elite (re-?) qualifications.

Will be Plat 12/10/06 via miles, so this will be for Plat re-qualification for '08 program year.

Booked 15,000 EQM, through Jan/07, all BIS (no COS bonuses). Will report back as each Elite level is booked, and traveled.

Steve B.

You're a bit early on this topic, aren't you? It's usually late Feb or March before it comes up. Shall we discuss 2009 as well?

Only if it applies... and only if NW starts permitting roll-over of EQMs.

There was supposed to be some guy who has Plat rebooked (but obviously not flown) in Jan/07 alone. Hoping he'd chime in here...

I will be Plat on Dec 17th as well, so I will be doing PE requalification as well... I have about 23K EQMs booked through Jan and then another 23K booked through Feb (MSP-LON runs with a LAS-MSP-CHI-MSP-CHI-MEM-LAS to get there)...

Work will probably send me to Guam on CO again in June for another 20K EQMs... Shouldn't be too hard to requal next year I guess.

I've got 16K booked right now, and another 10K soon to be booked. Requalification for silver won't be a problem, Gold will be touch and go. My travel on NW is effectively 100% personal (out of my 51,000 eqm this year, 500 were for business). All told, I've done about 85,000 miles this year (20,000 of which were for work mostly on UA, the rest mistake fares like AA's ACA deal).

Wow! You already know exactly when and where you will be? That's amazing to me,as a consultant. I basically know I will be traveling somewhere, but no idea what country/city. We generally don't even book until 10 days or so out, since it changes so rapidly.

Same for me ... I may know the destination, but it's rare that everything will be confirmed more than 2-3 weeks in advance. I have nothing at all boked for 2007 yet ...

I don't even have most of December for this year booked yet.

I'm an opportunist traveler. I had the opportunities pop up to make some travel arrangements that I thought I would like to do, so I booked them.

As always with this stuff, I may not fly all (any?) of it. But, it is booked, and since that is what this thread was about, I opined.

Since it looks like I'll top out at about 65K EQM this calendar year, I don't think I'll be contributing anything to 2008 pre-January. I do hope to get off to a quick start in January, though, since I'm looking at being based in a new city for the next few years, 8K EQM away from my current one, but my travel patterns would be changing from 6-8 high-mileage trips a year to a (potentially much) larger number of somewhat lower-mileage ones. Will have to see what that does to the ol' status.

I don't even know how this thread got "exciting" over the last day or so.

Seriously, this forum is overusing the word "exciting," not to blame anything on the OP.

Currently only have one trip booked on NW for the new year. Will likely squeak out with Silver if I'm luck for '08...

Good, because it didn't become exciting until overnight. Talk to the moderator who changed the thread title...

But I'm glad this thread got off to a good start. We're even starting to see people booked for Plat next year. My goal this year is never to pay more then $118 domestically (all-in) and $150 internationally (with DB210s), so I'll be waiting all year for the best deals. I've also accumulated enough milage (across many airlines) that award travel is starting to interfere with paid travel.

Business travel has significantly beenr educed for me, but I pulled a few MRs to reach PE this year. I doubt that I will even fly enough to quality for SE next year, which would be quite a let down given how spoiled I now am. I'm sure I will have to pull a couple MRs next year just go make SE.
