My first year as Gold, 2007 was first year as Silver. I did pretty good on upgrades, so hoping to upgrade my wife now as a Gold a few times this year.... (or help out a coworker when they fly with me on a bis trip...)

Missed PE by 14 segments. No way for even trying a MR.
MrsM had 4 surgeries, I changed-then lost job this year. Bad year at Mikey's house..Although actually a good year since MrsM is doing GREAT!!!!!!

Just squeaked into PE again with a run from LGA-LAS last night and back. I did run into another "runner" on flight 174 AND 774. He was in seat 2c next to me and 1a on the return. He did a double take when he looked over and saw me again.

Made Gold for the first time. Just under 41,000 miles and 60 segments all domestic, but thank goodness not all domestic for 2008!!!

Changed jobs the first week of January 2007. New job doubled the salary and required no travel other than the 7 miles driving round trip 5-6 days a week. So, my totals for 2007 were:
EQM - 0
EQS - 0
Not a single flight in 2007 after earning PLT with NW or DL for the past 7 years. Still depressed when I think about it, so I try not to.

Made PE again on Dec 5th/2007 by segments. Traveled less miles this year and switched to flying out of STC instead of MSP....Got to love them 15 min, 1 segment/500 mile flights from STC to MSP.

Last-minute Plat status
I'll be requalifying as Platinum this evening, with the first leg of my return to Los Angeles from London. I get to use my 60,000-mile "extra perks" award to seed my 2008 EQMs, rather than top up 2007. 2008 looks promising already, with a trip to Buenos Aires and Montevideo in March, and to Barcelona, Paris and Amsterdam in June.
I have to confess that a big reason for my 4-day mini-break in London between Christmas and the New Year was to regain Plat status. So, when someone asks me what Plat is "worth" to me, I'll have to add up the B-fare ticket, the hotel, the meals... and say it's worth about $3,000.00. Or maybe the EQMs were just an excuse to treat myself to a few days of silly luxury... It's a chicken/egg problem...

I received a package in the mail from NW today: my Platinum elite credentials for 2007. Five months after I qualified and in an entirely different calendar year.
