Wow, really? Could this be a result of the new A333 on the route beg. 1/8?

I've usually found that NW releases a lot more mileage-upgrade seats closer to departure. Not finding it to the case recently. I've having a hard time getting any mileage upgrades for a prospective Nov. trip. :(

The OGG-KOA leg exists purely to utilize the longer runway over at KOA, allowing a full load back up to SEA. Marketing wise it offers them the ability to sell KOA as an extra destination, but it is solely to fill up with a full bag of gas.

I'm often amused at the considerations that go into ticketing decisions with the crowd out there..... I don't want to fly on a redeye, I want to arrive the same day, schedule x fits my schedule but at the expense of legroom y, schedule z is convenient but I don't like connection q into equipment r......

Before their demise/restructuring, TZ threw 753s out of OGG to PHX routinely, with no load restrictions. I'm not sure if the RR 211-535E4s have that much of a thrust delta over the 2043s, but they never had to restrict.

Yesterday, I found 4/5-4/13 mileage-upgrade seats to OGG (MKE-MSP-HNL-OGG) on 99 for $954.

Not great, but you get to A: Avoid a 753, B: Get into OGG before the SEA flight, C: Enjoy the comforts of F in a 333.

Alas, most of you would flame me, but I went with DL via SLC on the dreaded 764 (and a CR7 from MKE-SLC to boot!)...the extra 3 hours in Maui are so worth the 9 hours of pain.

When I took this flight I was surprised how long the stopover in KOA was. Noticed when we were there they unloaded a huge amount of cargo, presumably from mainland. Gussing that's pretty nice gravy.

Do they let you deplane in KOA while the other passengers are loaded? I wondered whyn they would refuel after the 38 min flight from OGG. The cargo drop off is very profitable for NW.

I was last on 95 in April, and we were not allowed to deplane. They did open the doors for some fresh air, but we were not allowed to leave the aircraft.

We were not allowed to deplane either.

Actually, it's probably better that you didn't deplane. Aside from running around the tarmac and stretching your legs, there's absolutely nothing at KOA to pass the time with.

No, but for those of us going on to MSP, (and, to MKE in my case), the less amount of time I would have been stuck in the 753, the better. It started to get warm after a while, given the delays we had been subjected to.

Thankfully, in both instances, I was extremely fortunate to get a BF for the MSP-SEA/vv legs, so I was only stuck in the 753Y for the SEA-OGG-KOA-SEA legs.
