Rescheduling flights from strike

I have a flight on NW Sept 7 (Bos/Ams) and a return Sept 18) for some very important meetings at both ends. I am increasinly concerned about the CHAOS effects and am thinking about changing the reservations (AF/KLM, other carriers) but the costs would be several thousand (not paid by me but paid nonetheless). Am I being too wimpy on this, is it too early to tell? As I understand it, things start to happen on Aug. 25 but Sept is not long after that. Thanks for any help.

It is all about your level of comfort. My own theory ( ;) ) is that international flights will be less affected than domestic flights. You might see some delays but few cancellations. Cancelling a flight would impact on FAs returning to the US. Not certain who would then be responsible for the accomodation for a FA stuck in AMS because of CHAOS activity.

An FA on a flight last night (domestic) told a few of us who were talking about the situation that she thinks they are likely to target 'high revenue flights' for example Asia and Europe. (roughly her words)

How about a backup booking with a refundable fare?

If you are elite on NW I would expect them to take care of you and put you on KLM or other partner. The BOS flight is early enough that you can catch the late flights out of NYC.
