Tpe-nrt
I was sitting in the Northwest Office in Taipei looking for a compensation similar to my fiancee's from Continental and I was minding my own buisness and some gentleman starts complaining about how TPE only flies to KIX, not NRT anymore. So I was naturally curious
1. Why did NW discontinue TPE-NRT? 2. Will it continue? 3. Does this have anything to do with CI having increased flights (with CX and other regional Asian carriers) into NRT, making it difficult to compete? 4. I recall saving a few hundred flying through KIX instead of NRT on my way to America and vice versa, I just need someone to tell me if that made any sense, it's not a question. Kudos to the people in the Northwest Office. They took good care of me, presenting me with vairous vouchers and such. Excellent customer service. |

. i wouldn't be surprised to see it return, especially if nw cancels pdx-nrt, as rumored (on the other hand, others have speculated that that flight would likely be replaced by an extra sea-nrt). |
this is one of the really silly things nwa did as of late... Since they obviously have the extra slots with the cxl of PDX-NRT and adding more NRT-SPN ... then this flight should be reinstated. Flying thru KIX is krappy, esp for those on the west coast... I really wonder at the O/D traffic thru CAN... anyone have any idea on those loads?

You had a very postive trip report Nw 069 Trip Report posted. Any other bad experience on the flight that prompted a trip to the Taipei Northwest office?
Its good to know they have an excellent customer service there. The Northwest office in Shanghai is also quite customer service oriented as is the United office. My sisters United flight had a mechanical problem from San Farncisco to Tokyo that resulted in her arriving a day late to Shanghai and I visisted United's Shanghai office and they upgraded her to Business class on the return.

No offense, but if you don't know, then why assume what you're hearing is true (that NW's adding additional flights on a poor route).
Given that NW's often put a 744 on NRT/SPN (for short stints) during the past several years, I'd assume that it's a good route for them.

Ha. I had to do this route just after NW cancelled it. Ended up flying CO from Taipei to Saipan to Guam to Narita - overnight. Had no other choice on an award ticket. Not fun.

JALWays, JAL's resort arm, uses AMERICAN labor (HNL-based) because it's CHEAPER than Japanese labor. NW and its cheaper labor/aircraft operating costs can better compete than JAL on these routes.
