Help Keeping Status

Hi guys. I'm a new and now loyal NW flyer. I got hooked up with their fast track to elite status program and have really enjoyed flying NW. My promo says that I must fly 4 rt flights before dec 15 of this year to retain silver status for next year.

I've done one rt since I enrolled and have 2 more scheduled before dec 15. that leaves me one short. I've flow continental and delta during this time. I'd like to roll my points from these accounts into WP if possible and hope that this might work out my delima with keeping status. Does anyone know if I can roll elite segments from CO to WP? or delta to WP?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

No, you can't.

My brother used to be Elite with CO a few years back when they lived in Houston. I don't remember what level Elite he was. Anyway, he used to get offers whereby he could pay a certain amount to retain his status for the next year if he couldn't make enough segments/miles. Does CO (or anyone) still do this??

United did some modified form of this last year, but as you caught yourself, this isn't the CO forum, and no, CO has not offered such a program in years.

If the OP is short on qualifying for Silver, s/he really needs to ask him/herself if flying an extra 3 Roundtrip flights will be worth the benefits... If you won't be flying Northwest that often next year, what good is it to spend the money to acheive status? Sure, upgrades, status and preboarding are great, but only when they're used the extent that they should be.

And, as a previous poster had answered, you cannot roll over elite qualifying miles/segments from one airline program into another.

And if the OP is flying NW next year, why not fly hard in Jan and Feb and qualify for the next 2 years, instead of doing it in the next 2 months and having the staus end in Feb 2007, instead of Feb 2008?

Not trying to dissuade you from doing it. Just asking the question so you can weigh which option is best for your situation.

What City are you in? There ARE A TON of CHEAP tickets right now. Just a buy a quick, cheap seat...

Most of those promos for X number of round trips have to be purchased in the more expensive classes. The el cheapo's generally do not qualify. The restriction also usually requires you to be on NW metal not on CO or DL metal so even if you could roll other programs miles/segments into WP (which you can not) if they were not on NW Jets than they would not help you anyway.

The reason for doing it this year would be to enjoy the benefits as you requalify next year. If you don't mind loosing the benefits for a couple of months (50% bonus miles, pre-boarding, and a possible U/G) than I would fly on specials through Jan and Feb to get to 25K miles and then be silver until '08. If those things were important I would take the one extra R/T that you do not have booked on NW metal before the 15th of December.
