I've flown on the SEA-MSP redeye after connecting from HNL, went over to the Delta club (make sure you have time between connections, as it requires changing terminals and walking a bit, you don't have to exit security and re-enter security) , Nice people at the Delta club, showed, my WC card, one guest, didn't have any problems.

So, I guess SEA is now like PDX, where the state law requires that alcohol be served by an attedant (WC staff). It's just a different (albeit one additional) procedure from, say, DTW or MSP.
I like the SEA WC staff -- very cordial and friendly -- so if they are serving me the alcohol, that's fine with me.

Was in the Seattle WC yesterday ad noticed that the self-service bar is gone. Sign says "see attendant".
Asked the front desk and was told that the state liquor board said no self service allowed- must have a bartender. Was told by an employee at the AS Board Room that the state would allow them to give away beer, wine, and vodka only. Everything else had to carry a charge. Only in Washington.......... laws change hourly..... |

Since I'll be taking the SEA-DTW redeye on Saturday, this thread is acutely interesting to me. Do I understand correctly that both the CO Presidents Club and the DL Crown Room Club are after security and even though neither is in the S Terminal, I won't have to worry about re-clearing security after paying either a visit? Also, does either have shower facilities?
Can't speak to the CRC but yes for the PC. Th securuity for S is same as B and C once through and at the club you'll need to backtrack to the train. |

One question though - I will be in SEA this Saturday on a MR, and just so happen to be in town during the period when the NRT and AMS flights depart. Will NW have anything special out in terms of food at the WC, or will it be standard fare (which is still world's better than what they give us at the CRC). |
I used the Continental Club on a MR a few weeks ago. No problem using my WC card and the best Bloody Mary I have ever had!

All clubs are post security at SEA-TAC
DL CRC is at the end of the new A concourse, and is a fairly good walk. Limited snacks, free alcohol, served by a bar tender. Internet for a fee. Open until 10pm NW WC is in the S satilite concourse which requires a train ride to get to. Free Wifi, limited snacks, free alcohol (though you have to ask as the bar is still in the kitchen). Open until 5pm (changes, but never for the late flights) CO PC at the end of B concourse. Limited snacks, free alcohol, served by a bar tender. Internet free. Open until midnight. Bathrooms outside of club. DL NW and CO have reciprocal agreements, you do not have to fly on them to use the lounge. AS has a good sized club near the entrance to the C concourse. I was told that the AS club has an "unofficial" agreement with the other clubs in the SEATAC airport for reciprocity. Never had an issue using the AS club as a DL CRC member. Free beer, wine, and vodka. All else for a fee. All served by a bar tender. Good snacks. |

Open until 10pm I didn't go to the CO lounge, but the delta lounge had scarce snacks, and wifi as mentioned wasn't free. But still better than sitting outside the closed WC club and satellite terminal waiting for your flight if you had time. |

I don't know if I agree. At least you can leach internet access outside of the WC, even when it is closed. For free. |

As of Monday, February 5, there was no password on Seattle World Club wi-fi. I have no idea why -- it's much easier to access from the outside than eitther of the MSP clubs. But it's nice when arriving outside of the limited WC hours, which for me is just about every time I return from HNL.

Late Night Thrills?
I have heard a few rumors from the wonderful women who staff the El' Presidente' Club at Sea-Tac (near gate B4) that NW is going to have the Sea-Tac WC open into the later evenings this summer. Has anyone else heard of this? If so, this would be great! They just need to keep the Wi-Fi unprotected and have Washington State/Seattle City roll back the law that says you cannot self-serve yourself alcohol. If all of these things came into being -- I would probably explode because it meant that something else in the Universe had gone terribly out of balance.:p:D

Over one year later (04/12/08), and still no password required to use the Wi-FI outside of the SEA WC near the S9 gate. Also, there are no Terms & Agreements on a web page you have to checkbox and sign off on either. ^ :D

Take this for whatever...a WC agent in DTW says that it may be necessary soon, as people are squatting on the floor at the north/south tram stations to use the wi-fi. IIRC, there is even an electric outlet on the wall near the entrance to the club.
|
Hey, I used to be one of those guys (until I got my WC membership). I could never reliably maintain a connection at the concourse level near the N/S clubs, so I would squat outside the door. Then I discovered you could reliably pick the main club connection in the food court directly beneath it.

At MSP there's usually restaurants near most of WCs. So I could see how they might want to restrict access. As far as SEA goes, leaving WiFi on is the least they could do considering how early they close.

You Betcha!

Why don't more airports just provide free wi-fi throughout their terminals? Many do, but many don't. My home airport, GSP, does.

Just a reminder that the SEA CRC will be closing at the end of April, so the only "red-eye" lounge will be the PC, until the WC stays open for the London flight starting in June. However, the club will likely close after that departure, so MSP red-eyes will need to go to the PC even after June1.

A real bar in SEA WC
This is an old thread, but it does deal with SEA WC changes.
Passed thru there today, and the coverings on the construction that has been ongoing at the far end of the club are now off. It is going to be a bar, not self-serve like it used to be or as in MSP, but a sit down in front of a bartender type bar, seating about 6-7. Nice to see, considering the recent changes there concerning alcohol. I'd be interested to find out how much alcohol consumption decreased at the SEA WC ever since they changed from having unrestricted access to the bottles, to the present system where you have to find an agent and ask for your drink. I know that in my day, I have poured some pretty stiff drinks. ;) |
Bar isn't necessary a good thing. May need your help in filling out the comment card
While the new bar is still closed for business, don't expect the level of service to be increased anytime soon.
BAR BUT NOT A FULLTIME BARTENDER All WC agents are trained for basic bartending but Seattle's WC's "wish list" is a full-time bartender. They have had full-time bartender for a short term but due to the restrictions of the bean counters, the position was eliminated sometime ago. With WC agents trying to divide their time to perform many tasks (eg. process all memberships(new, renewal, check-in), check-in and look for passenger's flight details, serving beverages and snacks, among others tasks) obtaining attentive & friendly dedicated bar service is impossible. If you ever had the opportunity to write to NW about WC in Seattle, place this among your request of things needed. NO FREE PHONE LINES In the process of installing the bar, they had removed the workstations which had local phone lines. While cell phone technologies have decreased the utilization of the local phone lines, I think this is still an important features that all WC should have. Without this benefit, all calling card and local call will require a fee. GUINESS? I'm hoping they are considering adding Guiness (to go along with the LHR flight) among their beverage selection.
