Are ECVs and E_Certs considered the same?

Meaning that "cannot use them together" is a valid argument?

I see E-Cert as a promo fare..... and ECV as a $$$ off adjustment to a fare ...

nwa.com allows entering one of each, but not two of the same!

When I purchased a flight, it priced out at the e-cert fare, with a asterisk that the ECV will be applied at purchase. Howeve r that did not happen upon purchase.

I looked carefully at both sets of rules (E-Cert PK036, and ECV). The former did not mention the latter in its restrictions, and vice-versa.

I am sure I am not the first person that this has happened to, so any comments will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Now I know the hard way that "supervisor Dusty in Seattle" is not knowledgeable. I also know that he was "not willing to do the _extra_ work to pull up the information that says ECV and E-Cert are same" and of course, even if he did, "cost considerations would prevent him from faxing/e-mailing anything to me."

That was my experience last night!
