In my experience, the lightest loads have been on the second DTW-NRT and NRT-DTW flights. In fact last autumn, I was one of about 60 people on an entire 744 from NRT-DTW -- so had all the room that I needed in coach. The earlier flight (departing 90 minutes earlier or so) appeared to be at least 75% full.

As someone also mentioned, the PDX-NRT loads can also be light.

I just hope the loads on the SEA-NRT flight improve enough to get a 747 back. Nothing against the A-330, but you can't beat the 747.

DTW-NRT and MSP-NRT mostly full according to my experience

Usually flying the PDX route, I do find this to be comparatively low-yield. Of course this all changes during peak travel periods, such as the summer.

On yesterday's PDX-NRT flight they were looking for volunteers to be bumped. I would have taken it, but I had already been opped-up to WBC. Come to think of it, I was opped-up to WBC last summer as well.

From my past experiences...When I have been opped-up...then GA is seeking volunteers too ....I have volunteered and the GA has taken me as a bump AND upgraded me the next day/flight to NRT or my destination ie...BKK.

^ Thanks great!!

Thanks for the suggestion TravelerJim. I may do that RTW some other time. I am not looking to spend $3200 or $1900 when I can go where I need to go for 120000/60000 miles. Some day I would like to do around the world. I only have a week's time. I would be a waste of RTW to do it in a week.
