New Boarding Pass Format?
I checked in this morning for my 6am Monday flight and received a new boarding pass format. I flew 2 weeks ago, and it was still the old. This is more convenient, only one piece of paper to contend with when only one connection. Anyone else?

Folds in 3's
It folds into thirds & fits nicely into your coat pocket.
No need to tear. WT |

Go figure. |
Speaking of boarding passes, I printed mine out at the self service check in and asked the GA for an envelope and was told they don't have them anymore...first spinzels, now boarding pass envelopes...I just stole one from United.

While I have noticed there are fewer and fewer self-service areas with the envelopes available, the one at PIT always had plenty of them...until Friday. When I checked in, there was not an envelope to be found anywhere. Guess they really are doing away with 'em. Kinda a pain given the flimsiness of the passes the machines spit out. Maybe I should start doing online checkin and feeding a good heavy paper stock thru the printer when I print the BPs out. ('Course, that'd only work on the home-assignment leg of the trip) |

No envelopes, thin paper and home check-in all on one page. Wonder how much fuel and weight thay save?? |
Nice format but the yo yos at my regional airport still want to tear off the receipt stub ... so I don't end up with a destroyed Connecting Pass, I cut my boarding passes with sissors and give them to the gate agents. Here in LNK, they tear off the end ... at all other stations, they scan the bar codes. Guess LNK is bereft of coded readers.

Careful when checking bags
If you have to check a bag, don't be a bonehead and scan the bar code for the connecting flight (experience speaking here). It'll give you an error and tell you to see an agent.
Make sure you scan the bar code for the 1st flight and it'll work fine. |
New boarding pass bar code
From what I can tell, all of the bar codes are the same on a multiple leg trip. Therefore, it should not matter which one gets scanned, but I've had GA who insisted they needed to scan the appropriate BP in my collection.
The tear offs hasn't happened for me, yet. HJ |
