Do Elite bonus miles count as EQM?
 

This is probably a basic question, but I can't find the answer.

If you're Silver Elite you get 50% bonus on credited miles flown?

Does that 50% bonus count towards elite status?

NO. Only miles flown or class of service (B,Y,Z,J,C etc) class bonus miles count as EQM.

Considering at least half of the Platinum desk agents don't know the difference between banked miles and EQM it's OK to ask :)

When you look on line your EQM are listed separately and clearly.

Absolutely, positvely, and certainly NOT. They don't count as EQM at all.

Even if you call and enquire about it with an elite desk agent, and they provided you with a different answer, you would still not see the miles count as EQMs

However, occasionally, there are promotions that multiply EQMs, although often targeted. For example, last April at least some people had triple EQMs for LAX-DEN and double EQMs for LAX-MSP.

Yes, but mellowg's question was whether or not the bonus miles earned for elites on the actual miles flown will count as EQMs rather than if there are occasional promotions that would double EQM's that have tended to be targeted.

The simple answer to his question of bonus miles counting as EQMs is no.
