After 15 minutes of questioning, I requested that the agent just go back to the old standard questions:

2. Has your bags been out of your possession?
3. Has anyone asked you to carry anything on board?
DL's known to hassle MR's and people who take less-than-direct routings in order to get to their destination. It comes up occasionally on the MR and DL forums.
