Question: Compensation for missing connection flight?
I am sure this has been reviewed several times, but I was unable to find a thread about this.
Last night I had to spend the night in Detroit, unscheduled. I had a flight out of ROA that was delayed to begin with, unsure of the reason. Once we boarded the plane we where then delayed again for mechanical reasons. This caused me to miss my connecting flight in Detroit. I received a $20 food voucher, a night in a Double Tree and a "Coupon" for future travel. Is this typical for NW? I was hoping for a travel voucher, but got a coupon. I have been an FO on delta for 5 or so years, so I typically don't fly NW. Any thoughts |
Typical package at the airport. You will likely have WPM added to your account. You can write to them (Talk To Us) and see what can be done.
NW typically deals with the urgent issues right away and deals with compensation later. |
Actually getting a hotel is unusual on a domestic itin -- usually reserved for elites. I was on a wx delay in FAR once, and was the only one who got one. Other pax on the airport shuttle weren't too happy when the driver asked "which one of you has teh voucher."
Maybe they'll do it for mx more than for wx. (that rhymes). |
Agreed. You should ask for, and will probably get, some miles for the inconvenience. But other than that, as long as they got you to your final destination without too much hassle on the overnight, you're probably not going to get anything more.
If the circumstances were outstanding (i.e. NW stranded you for 3 days somewhere because the aircraft went to the wrong airport and the replacement crew couldn't fly because they were drunk, and you missed your wedding), you'd probably be entitled to a bit more. |

Thank you for the information....
Ya, the Westin would have been nice last night, but all worked out fine. I am not trying to take advantage of the situation, but if you don't know - Ask. Hopefully my next trip through DTW, this Saturday, will go smoother. Ciao. |

Last time I got stranded overnight at Memphis (due to mechanical) they gave us mileage vouchers along with the food vouchers. They put us in a radisson there and gave us breakfast and mileage vouchers... This was a couple of years ago so I am guessing they don't do mileage vouchers any more? Or is that something they only reserve for WP members?
