R availability not on flyaow.com

search remains down, a google search (site:flyertalk.com etc) wasn't much help, though I know this has been discussed ad nauseum before:

Flyaow.com lists "P4 F2" and NWA.com seat map shows 4 open F seats. Is F2 the same as R2? If not flyaow.com, which site do we use to find R availability? thanks

R availability not on flyaow.com
Never has been. And F2 does not necessarily equal R2.

Ask the Elite line agent how many "R" seats and how many "P" seats are available

You can always ask the elite line agent to verify if there are any "R" seats available for your flight, the followup question would be: How many "P" seats are you holding for sale, usually the agent will tell you.

Even with the above info, you never really know how large the EUA upgrade list may be, and whether you will get the upgrade.

Good luck!

There are 4 seats available for sale at a P fare and likely 2 seats that could also be sold as a F fare. In general if you see PxF0, R will also be 0. However, P/F seats can be made available for upgrades (R) near boarding time.

Look for availability tool (Google it!) for R fares. Not a perfect tool (available 2 out of every ~6 hours), and not a really user friendly tool but works quite well.

thanks for all the help

was able to successfully download and use the availability tool. the reason I had to reask this question is because the first time I tried to download the tool several months back, I kept getting error messages, and then I couldn't remember where it was - got it this time - thanks!

(BTW, flyaow.com lists "P4F2" and the tool lists R4, FWIW...)

ok, so we're at 20 hours from flight time, the tool says R4, flyaow.com still says P4F2, and NWA.com seat map shows 4 open. None of these numbers have changed for 72 hours. The elite line says R0.

Is the tool slow to update, not reflecting the correct database, occasionally glitched, or generally inaccurate?

Check in using NWA.COM Checkin -- it will upgrade you or put you on the wait list

You need to be one of the first 4 elites to checkin on nwa.com.

The internet checkin may upgrade you on the spot, or put you on the airport upgrade list.

Let us know if nwa.com offers you the upgrade (R seat) or if you clear at the airport.

Good Luck!
