Per the NW website, you can't participate in this promotion unless you get an invitation by mail.

i love this rule:

4. On a single day, a maximum of one trip is permitted toward qualification for this offer.

can't spend an entire day hopping between DTW and LAN, i guess. :-)

I was invited by mail to take a similar challenge around this time last year. I suspect I qualified by flying WBC to MNL over Christmas 2003, which meant that the EQMs were spread across 2 years instead of putting me within a whisker for SE status for 2004. I had to "score" 16 points for SE or 32 for gold, where a NW segment scored 2 points and an AS segment 1 point. In the end, I sneaked in a trip LAX-MSP-CMH-DTW-BWI-DTW-MSP-LAX one Saturday to get it over with! Since then, I have legitimately qualified for GE, so I guess NW's marketing department achieved their goal of reeling me in! ;)
Does anybody have an idea of how many people are targetted like this?

Even though I earned Platinum last year, I received this targeted promotion to "Elevate to Platinum" in the mail yesterday on 'WorldPerks Gold' letterhead. It gives a different URL: http://www.nwa.com/offers/elevatewcp/

I just got the letter in the mail today as I missed Silver Elite this year. The catch here is this...frok 2/15-5/15 I have to fly 2 flights on NWA booked in either P, F,J, C,Z, Y , S or B classes...so realistically either Y, S or B...all of which are full-fare economy. I was planning on going to DFW from LGA in april and my T fare was $280 RT...I switched to B fare or better and it spit back $1080. Wow, that was a laugh. I'll make due without my status for now. Been flying a lot of B6 on business now as it as...

I am a S Elite and missed Gold narrowly by 1000 miles...What are the qualification rules for Elevate to GOLD ? Is it 5 RT on B,Y etc?

the major hurdle for qualification for the promo is being invited. even with the code and link to the promo, you can't register for it. i tried just out of curiosity and not surprised that it didn't work as the NW system is pretty sophisticated. it sounds like those that bought high fare classes last year were invited but then i'm quite sure that the exact criteria is very confidential....

yours is a different version completely....

while it allows you to earn it with flights...
it also allows you to earn it with the purchase of a 1 or 3 year WorldClubs® membership.
