Need clarification on AS upgrades
 

Hi,

I am a Silver with NW and I'll be taking AS from SFO-YVR next month. The booking was made on NW site and the flights have a NW number. I called Worldperks inquiring about upgrades and the agt advised me that they will be automatically processed. This sounds odd to me since nowhere in the membership guide they mention anything about AS upgrading NW elites. Now, I have come across some information in the past about coupons or certificates that are given to Elites to be used on AS but unfortunately I have never paid much attention since I seldom use AS. Are these reserved for Plat and Golds only?

as a NW Silver, you are not eligible for upgrades on AS-operated flights. the coupons are for NW Gold and Plat, and these are only for day of departure. contrary to what you were told, you will not automatically be upgraded.

AS doesn't seem really check the certs against the cardholder level. Of course, there have to be seats available. I may have a couple of these left, so if you'd like to try, PM me with your info.
