ATA's not giving up--increased MSP/MDW, new FNT/IND service

Many FlyerTalkers believe NWs motivation behind the IND focus city is to force ATA to end scheduled service. Well, ATAs not giving up -- instead, they're expanding further into NW's home turf:

(effective February 4)

MDW/MSP increases to eight daily flights each-way:

ATA Connection begins IND/FNT service:

(*it's interesting that TZ's walk-up fare from FNT to MDW or IND is $301, vs. $95 or $104, respectively, on WN from DTW)

For what it is worth... I spoke w/ a WClub agent about the whole IND focus. Her take was that NW thought IND would fold in ATA's hubs & MDW would be their focus. TZ did a switcher-roo & kept IND.

I wonder if we'll have all 757 service from MSP-MDW on NW??? (just kidding).

Let the battle begin!!!

Now that ATA/C8 is dropping FNT-MDW, could NW please step in and start a FNT-ORD/MDW flight.....I don't care if its a Saab or CRJ or whatever, it would be nice either way

They're not. FNT and GRR are the only two ATA Connection cities (other than IND) to MDW being retained (for now, at least).

As for NW dreaming of a focus city at MDW... with two enormous hubs a half-hour's flight east or west of MDW + the enormous WN operation there...
