how long for miles to post?

OK, i paid/flew B class on CO on 25NOV. Those miles posted by 30NOV. The return was paid B on CO on 29NOV. However, I stood by onto a NW flight that night. Those miles have not posted, although I have faxed a mileage request with boarding pass and receipt.

1. I assume I will get the NW miles instead of the CO miles, in other words, the flight I actually flew?

2. How long should I expect to wait for the return to post?

One complication is that the GA took my reissued NW ticket when I was upgraded at the gate. Being a newbie SE, I didn't know if that was standard or not... but now it means I have no ticket for the flight I actually flew (although of course I have the boarding pass and the original receipt for the CO return).

Looks like what they did was issue you a paper ticket for standing by on the Northwest flight when booked on CO. This happened to me earlier in April of this year when I was booked on a CO ticket going BNA-IAH-HNL and stood by for BNA-MSP-HNL on NW instead. The flights posted as Q (aka, "Pending Internal Processing," aka PIP), but were resolved about a week later. It's the paper ticket part that takes a while for the miles to post, but your patience might earn you 150% EQM on that flight.

I suggest you contact them directly with the Talk To Us feature on their website. I usually see an entry regarding my flight on the account summary page within 24 hours and a resolution very quickly (another 24 hours). Often the miles post within 24 hours of my request.

Try and see what happens.

Thanks for the tip. I tried but no go. They said because the ticket was issued by CO I had to submit documents to NW for processing, which I've already tried via fax.

Is 3 days too short to wait? It was NW metal, after all.

Give it a week, since I have a feeling they'd also post yours PIP (a search here will reveal more).

update

as of today (1 week post-flight), no miles posted at all.

so I called WP line and they said they had received the boarding pass and emailed receipt/itinerary, but needed the CO ticket number.

I called back a few hours later with the ticket number. this agent says 1. she doesn't need or want the e-ticket number because 2. there is "no place to put it" and 3. i'll just have to wait 4-6 weeks for the miles to post becuase they are entered by hand.

That wasn't the answer I was looking for, so I called back a third time. He takes my e-ticket number, calls his supervisor, enters it in the system, and says they should be "swept" by the computer this evening.

4 hours later, miles have posted to the account... with 50% EQM bonus, to boot, as slippahs hinted. coincidence? who knows? but all is happily, and quickly, resolved.

my miles normally post within 48 hours, still waiting for fridays to post. first time i got the "Q" code. that flight made me silver though maybe it has to do with that.

Q usually means you changed something and it takes a little research. Maybe did standby, maybe had the ticket re-issued. Sometimes, it means nothing, but should post within 1 week of the Q appearing.

My flight from this Friday has already posted and generally it post within one week.
