Internet Access at DTW?

I know MSP has internet kiosks available for a fee - but does DTW have these anywhere in the NW terminal? I've never seen them there, but I could just looking in all the wrong places. What about the Westin? Do they have a business center where one can get internet access? I don't own a laptop, so I'm looking moreso for kiosks or business centers that may have one.

Thanks!

you can give me a call and use the computer at my desk if you're willing to schlep over to the old terminal... :p :)

in terms of the McNamara Terminal -- I believe the Online Cafe near gate A36 has computers, but I could be wrong.

i've used them at the online cafe-about 1/2 dozen or so and all hooked to a free printer . I'll be there Sunday morning and check on rates. None of worldclubs I've been in there have computers w/internet access.

The Online Cafe has terminals, and an elusive website that I couldn't find, but I find the rates to be incredibly steep. I don't know exactly but I believe it was in the ball park of $10 per 15min.

DTW also has wireless provided by Concourse, 24 hours $6.95.

aha www.onlinecafebarandgrill.com Don't see internet prices though...

Good gravy, that expensive? I'll have to check that as DTW is supposed to have a street pricing policy (well street, + 10%) for concessions...I assume it would be applicable to concessions' services too.

There is Internet access in McNamara Terminal in DTW

This is what I found on the Metro Airport homepage. This was mentioned by someone before. This access is in addition to the access at the Online Cafe.

Wi-Fi has arrived at Detroit Metro Airport. Travelers in the McNamara or Smith Terminals with wireless enabled laptops, PDAs and smartphones can now surf the web, send email, even log on safely to corporate intranet sites. This new service costs $6.95 for a 24-hour period.

Travelers without Wi-Fi compatible devices can still plug into dataports available at every airport public telephone. Airport officials are also looking at Wi-Fi for the new North Terminal project, planned to replace the Smith Terminal in the future.

The airport's Wi-Fi provider is Concourse Communications Group L.L.C. of Chicago. Concourse currently has roaming agreements with seven wireless Internet service providers, including Boingo, GRIC, iPass, SBC, Sprint PCS, STSN, and WeRoam from Switzerland. Those users will pay for the service through their existing accounts. For more information or assistance, e-mail [email protected] or call (800) 550-5030.

Online cafe-DTW

They cost $5.25 for 15 minutes, $10.50-30 and so on. You'll have to buy at least a coke or something to sit at their table to use them, which can get cramped if you order a meal. I didn't have time to check the Westin to see if their buz center ahd any, but If you have a layover in LAX, the Hilton has them open 24 hrs on 2nd floor. Cost $4 for 15 mins I think. Anyway I was on for hr 10 mins or so and printed about 20 pages-which they charge and bill was $25.

I've used the online cafe in DTW before. Decent breakfast, high internet rates.

WC should have high speed internet

IMHO, NW should let people use wireless internet for free at WC.

I can't believe that as of today, there is NO high speed internet at WC....

Very inconvennient for business travellers!!!

It won't cost a lot to set up 20 DSL drops there...

I now go to AS Boardroom when/where ever possible, they have both high speed (from the cisco ip phone) and wireless. Makes alot of difference. :D

Does NW Gold/Plat Asian Card allow you access to AS Boardroom?

I have some experience here as I don't like to lug my laptop around every trip. I went through DTW this week and checked out the online cafe. It is $5.25 minimum for 15 minutes. Now that the computers there take CC at the machine, you don't have to buy anything or even get the waitress anymore (which is good because that always took forever). Still, I find it pretty expensive for just a quick email check.
Btw, also was in LA and used their internet service computers - $3.00 minimum for 12 min. There's a few of them scattered around the gates at terminal 2- 2 of them just past the security line, in front of one of the stores there, and two by the end where Gate 28 is. There's probably more of them, but that's what I saw this morning. They're basically just chairs with a screen bolted on. The screen's OK, but the built-in keyboard and mouse seem to be of a Soviet-inspired design.
