"P" Premium Seating in F class?
 

Hi all, I was just checking my seat assignments for next weeks flights and noticed that the 1st row in F (1 ABCD) are now designated with the “P” premium code.

I was able to get those seats but have never noticed this before. Can any one shed any light on this?

What I find interesting is that those bulkhead seats are always the last to be given out for upgrades. So, electronic upgrades are more likely to assign those seats to Golds and Silvers rather than Platinums. Good thing we can now change our seat assignments on our own!

I like this feature too. I prefer the bulkhead aisles and 80% of the time am EUA'd in row 3 or 4, window seat even though aisle preference is notated in my profile. This enhancement to the website will reduce the number of calls I make to the elite line substantially, which is what mgmt is after anyway.

on the 757, at least, the bulkhead is designated as handicapped seating. i don't know about anyone else, but i can't grab the 2D on the 757. otoh, i can grab P seats on the 744 in business (the old F cabin, 73AB, etc). looks like there are a couple of different seat types all picking up the "P".

Doesn't sitting in the 1st row increase your chances of being bumped out of F by a FAM?

I ALWAYS have called and requested 1A (1D) and 90% of the time I get it. I have never been bumped out of seat. This year I have been 100% upgraded, a couple of close calls, but always made it.

As a Silver, I can confirm this hypothesis. It seems that when my upgrades come via EUA, I am always given an aisle/window on the bulkhead. I am also happy though that I can change seat assignments as well as I prefer to sit in the last couple rows. I get tired of looking at a wall in front of me sometimes in the bulkhead.

They have us mixed up! I have window in my profile, and always get assigned aisle. When I look at the map to switch to my Official Seat (1A) I ususally see that they've assigned only aisles.

BTW I've never seen FAMs in 1.
