BUMP program question

Because of the recently fixed R class glitch on CO, I want to convert my flight LAX-EWR to NW. Can I do this beforehand? Or only on the day of departure at the airport?

Thanks,

K

Only on day of departure...I'd becareful if you're doing this on anything other than the last segments, as most airlines will cxl all segments after you no-show (if NW takes your ticket you'll no-show for CO and all flights cxld)

Return segments are not always cancelled if you use the BUMP program on the outbound portion of a RT flight. My wife and I successfully flew outbound MEM-BWI on NW instead of MEM-ATL-BWI on DL after getting paper tix from the DL counter.

For our return, NW checked in full for their single daily BWI-MEM nonstop and were had to go back on DL. We checked in at the DL counter, expecting that our reservation with them had probably been cancelled. No problems, though, and our reservation was still in the system... original seat assignments, etc.

UA reservation

I have an upcoming UA reservation PIT - DCA, oneway, but would rather fly NW..

Will NW accept a 1 way change where the original reservation is a direct nonstop flight, but for NW will be 2 flight segments ?

TIA

Your only concern should be with how you'd get UA to release control of the eTickets over to NW (UA seems to be guarded in releasing control of their eTickets to other carriers based on previous postings here on FT). In other words, yes, it's possible.

PIT-DCA is probably a UA codeshare on a US operated flight. Dunno if that would have any effect.

As stated above...as long as you can get them to give up control (either by printing a paper ticket or giving up electronic ticket control) and NWA has a seat regardless of # of stops...nwa will accept it...

Good luck
