Does EUA work with 2 Elites on 1 reservation?

My son (NW Silver) and I (CO Gold) just bought tickets from NW on a single reservation for flgiths on NW. Our recent experience with CO is that this messes up EUA such that neither one of us gets upgraded even though plenty of seats in first were available. A CO gate agent had to divide the record so that EUA would work. Should I divide the record to avoid this kind of a problem, or is NW programmed differently so that it won't be necessary? Can anyone address this from personal experience in the same situation?

EUA will work fine, but only in the window for silvers. Lowest common denominator. If there's only one seat, NEITHER of you will get it. It's all or nothing. That said, divide the record so the CO Gold has a chance 3 days out.

Hypothetical question

If you take advantage of a companion fare, and then decide to split the records, does that result in a recomputation of the fare and additional payment? Or can the split be done for EUA purposes while still flying the same itinerary at the same rate?

Enquiring minds and all that stuff.... :)

Not sure, I'd call them and ask....but once it's been priced and ticketed, can't see why you shouldn't be able to split it for EUA purposes.

Defintely divide the reserveration. It has been my experience that when two members are of different standing.. both members end up essentially eliteless. This is both on CO and NW.

For recognition, split the PNR and you most always will both get seats.

This is not true. I've had at least ten segments with a companion. She is Silver and I'm Platinum. Except one time we have both been upgraded at the 5-6 day window together. The one remaining time was from MKE where there were ten seats open and were not released until gate time (The "R" problem at MKE). When I went to the Worldperks club she was placed in the upgrade order under the last platinum and above all the golds. The system works very well for companion on the same PNR.

Your situation is a little different. Since you're Plat, under the new rules you're allowed to upgrade a companion at the same 5-day advance window as yourself. The original poster, as a Gold, would have to split the reservation to get the 3-day upgrade. Otherwise both upgrades would clear at the 1-day Silver window, pending R availability.
