Well, all these statistics don't add up when you take them at face value. However, it could be that some of the deceased never made it to the intensive care and are not included in that number of 421; it could be that some of the recovered also never made it to intensive care before recovering; and the 393 are "serious or critical," so I don't think all of them necessarily are in intensive care. Or, to sum it up: We simply don't know the true number right now.

283 at least dead now from this. And the confirmed or presumptive cases are ramping up even in small towns in southern and south central Sweden. Amongst the cases are people who work with or are closely related to people who work with old people.

Even Anders Tegnell has had to come around a bit to acknowledge that the situation has hit a new level which is probably a euphemism for the situation being worse than he had been thinking.

I thought the warning from Italy was that when we see it it's too late? But that was Italy and surely can't happen here...

That a recovered case never made it to ICU is quite likely as statistically so far, the majority of the cases around the world show light symptoms. But yeah, getting all of these numbers to stack up is impossible without getting the full reports underneath.

Come on! It's ONLY 283 death, more people died from flu in a month (you know who think like this - not me). Btw Sydsvenskan wrote an article explains why Skane has so few cases - it requires a subscription so I didn't read it. I don't believe in it anyway.

Did you see that GBG is putting corona patients in an elderly home?

I guess you are not going to Are this weekend to ski before it closes , if you do let us know how packed it is .

Yes - somehow the kingdom of Sweden has a special immune system that resists all kind of disasters

Don't worry, if that magical power malfunctions this time, DK, DE, NO will be ready to give a helping hand so all these irresponsible morons in Stockholm will get bailed out. When this is over they will tell everyone that they made it without any lockdown. Think about the forest fire a couple of years ago.

Where is the transparency in Sweden? Surely, there is nothing to hide if all works so well in Sweden.

At least this season, driving to re is out of the question for me. Taking a train there is also of out of the question for me. I will probably get some reports about the Swedes and others who think that everything is fine in Sweden unless it is explicitly disallowed in Sweden and therefore continue to head to re anyway.

The doctor quoted in the Sydsvenskan article says this:

So far, the covid cases are evenly spread over Skne. There is no place that is particularly affected.
Apparently still a call for business as usual in Skne.

Stockholm wants to be able to pay healthcare workers 220% of their normal wages — due to this virus situation— for working 48 hours a week instead of 40 hours a week. It will be interesting to see how that goes over.

Hell yes, I was in Malmo this morning and business is freaking as usual. People shop in supermarkets with the usual queuing distance, no social distancing. I was at an orthodontist - they came out of a meeting, again no social distancing, short sleeves......as if live as usual.

It will be interesting to see how many healthcare workers will take the risk to work at 220% of their normal wages, I wonder if they get the same paid if they are on sick leave.

Yesterday afternoon, the outside shopping mall parking lot at Malmo-Hyllie was filled to the brim. And it wasn’t busy with just grocery shoppers, even as those too were reported as being busy and a large proportion of people waiting in checkout lines like normal ..... as in the time before there were any of these virus deaths registered in Sweden.

The Swedish death count is at or above 373 people now. And business as usual with most commercial and businesses open and with social activities continuing almost as usual.

Well, the death toll is "only" 401 people - 6870 people are confirmed with infection. People will say we are scaremongering because we are spreading "fake news".

Are you going to visit the beautiful Stockholm archipelagos? The ferry company is advising people to be "responsible".

Indoor gymnastics and swim classes for kids are continuing as usual, with people mingling mostly like usual. Being told that Tegnell’s numbers are currently off and lower than the actual numbers at the time is ignored or dismissed as you indicate.

The idea of individuals being “responsible” in Sweden as “good enough” is a tragic comedy. There is no meaningful punishment and no real ostracizing going on for doing whatever isn’t explicitly prohibited and isn’t being consistently met with serious legal action against people engaged in behavior of questionable “responsibility”.

I’m even seeing Instagram posts of doctors skiing at Swedish ski resorts in recent days. And many of these healthcare workers see elderly and other vulnerable patients too and will be seeing patients within 1-5 days of hitting the Swedish ski resorts. Welcome to “responsibility”.

Swimming classes for kids in Malmo has been cancelled for a while now, but swimming pools are open as usual. I saw at least one trampoline park is still open in Malmo.

Someone commented in a group on FB that she called 112 and they told her don't call until her head turns blue and can't breath, and preferably have someone drive her in because they have no ambulance. Maybe we all need an Alexa so we can get Alexa to call an ambulance when we can't breath and can't pick up the phone to call.

Isnt Oxie part of Malmo? They still seemed to have had the pools open for classes today.

Yes, this is "fake news" -- or, to put it in other words, it's not the whole picture. They're testing so few people that there are probably many more who are actually infected than 7,000. I would guess that it's at least several hundred thousand. The death toll is probably higher than 401 due to delayed reporting, but as with all such data, this number only means that these people had tested positive for the virus at the time of death. It does not necessarily mean that covid-19 was the sole or main factor in their deaths.

The actual numbers are probably higher because of a lag in the information which is reported. But Sweden isn't the only country where this is the case. Some people believe that the true figure for Italy is twice as high as the official number.

Here's a great article about why the UK figures are all wrong due to delayed data: https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...-toll-is-wrong

NHS England figures which currently make up the bulk of UK deaths in fact reflect the day on which the death was reported, not the actual date of death, which is usually days, sometimes weeks, before it appears in the figures.
In my opinion, the biggest problem with Sweden is that they were not ready for any pandemic at all. Finland has huge emergency stockpiles of medicines and protective gear (https://www.svt.se/nyheter/hemliga-f...pslager-oppnas), while Sweden has nothing at all. Swedish governments have, over a long period of time, shown serious lethargy in preparing for difficult times.

This is highly unlikely. That would mean maybe only one percent of infected are tested. This also means the mortality rate would be really low, like flu low and then we'll again how to ask ourselves why all countries except Turkmenistan, Belarus and Sweden have to some extent decided to lock down. And of course a few US states with all the expected characteristics.

The economy is tanking because of the disease, not the actions to stop it.

Many who have counted say the true number in the badly hit areas of Italy is more like four times as high as normal. For Sweden we'll be able to track this via SCB once numbers are uploaded for each day.

No war since 1814 and most Swedes have forgotten there coud be bad times and have for a long time argued about how to distribute the loot. The left with identity politics, quotas and similar stupidity. The right with 'free choice', laser focus on money and similar stupidity. It doesn't help that most of the politicans are so young. When you're 45 you're old in politics.
