Scuba Diving Iceland

Has anyone done this? There's very little chatter in the scuba diving section of FT. I"ll be going in July and have been looking at Dive.IS and wondering which dive/s I should do and would greatly appreciate any advice!

Dive.IS is reputable.

Also, diving Silfra is one of the top diving experiences in the world. Do it.

Tour vs. shore dive on my own

Hi all,

the costs for a dive company "tour" to Silfra seems ridiculously expensive @ ~ $350 USD for what looks like a simple shore dive.

Google maps shows it's only an hour from Reykjavik.

Has anyone just brought/rented gear and jumped in on their own?

Thanks,

Jason

supposedly you can pay the diving permit (from the Thingvellir national park)
http://www.thingvellir.is/1377
1000 ISK (~7 euro)

obviously you'll have to bring (or rent equipment) + dry suit, maybe 75 euros from this person here in 2015
