Hi,
Some things to see/do around Bergen: Almost all shops are closed on Sunday, including supermarkets. Restaurants are mostly open though. Regards Gavin |
Thanks Gavin! I'll be sure to see as much of your list as possible! I'm hoping to get to a NIANT on the Friday that I'll be in town. Probably look to book it today or tomorrow.
I also definitely want to get to the top of Ulriken! |
I'm envious! A very nice and charming city. Just remember to take a rain jacket and umbrella!
I never went to Ulriken, but the view from Fløyen is amazing. If you're there for a whole week though, you might be able to do both :-) We walked all the way up, which didn't take too long, and was a nice walk... |
Bergen or Oslo? - 48hrs
I have about 48hrs in Norway. Should I fly into Oslo or Bergen?
Would like to see Fjords and not sure I can do that from Oslo having never been there. Thanks for the help. |

Do you need to be in Bergen the entire time?

Greig's house, "Troldhaugen", is also a great place to visit (http://www.bergen-guide.com/65.htm). You can get there pretty easily by bus from the centre of Bergen.
I spent four days in Bergen a couple summers ago to visit relatives. Quite pricey, but a beautiful, clean city. |
great city. i loved it. but still i think a week is too much. i would look for lcc fares and consider oslo, stavanger and i really recommend to experience preikestolen!

Bergen options
Ok so I did book Bergen and I will be there for basically parts of two-three days.
Arrive Tues 11:00AM (have most of the day) Wed (All Day) Depart Thursday mid day I have two questions: #1 Could someone recommend a Fjord trip? (Would be willing to overnight) #2 I know this is not the best forum for this question, but what major US based hotel chains allow the use of points for nights in Bergen? (I have Starwood, Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott and can transfer to other brands if needed) Thanks for your help. |
