About transaction and forex fees, best to ask Wells Fargo or whatever bank whose card you will use. |

Better option is to open a Capital One Direct Banking account and set up transfer access from your usual checking/savings account. It takes a bit of time for the transfer money to post, but since Cap One has no intl transaction fees you'll save $$ going that route (assuming you know how much you want to keep in the Cap One account). Exchange rate at COB on your posting date will apply. Then the only thing you have to verify is a Norwegian bank that the Cap One card will work at. Our trip to Sweden and Swedbank was where we had to go, the ATMs at Handelsbanken didn't work on the same network.
And while you're opening Cap One accounts, just pick up a Cap One Visa card, same no intl transaction fees applies and the Visa brand is accepted more than Mastercard, at least it was in Sweden. Using the Direct Banking card you'll have access to cash and using the Credit Card you'll be able to handle those bigger ticket purchases. I gave myself 3 weeks (thought this was pretty short notice) to open the Direct Banking account and to get it funded. You will, most likely, still have to pay a local ATM fee, but if you plan appropriately you can limit your ATM use. Hope this is of service to you. Here's the link to the Direct Banking account I opened: http://www.capitalone.com/directbank...1_C1_02_T_SP25 |
