Exclamation Host asking fees and contract signing outside platform

Hi

i just wandered what to do in such situation

On behalf of a friend , I found a room on airbnb for a long stay (2 months) in my city (nothing else available at decent price due to high number of refugees from ukraine) , and in the listing the "owner" (which is most likely an intermediary) is asking for a 30$ fee for bed linen and towels (but this is done outside airbnb , it must be paid directly at checkin) and on top of that it seems he want to sign an agreement (i guess he treat this as a normal renting contract)

I found the Airbnb policy saying that no fees can be collected outside the platform (except few specific cases) , but is this one of them ? Also can host ask guests to sign agreement that apparently may superseed terms and conditions both parties agreed on airbnb ? i havent seen document yet so i can say what is it about exactly but i never heard of such in airbnb

Ok , it turns out the host just copy/pasted the listing from his regular craiglist-like offer , so none of these conditions apply as everything is paid already through airbnb

But my questions still apply for general knowledge , if someone knows i would be happy

Personal opinion/experience. I'd sign nothing outside of Airbnb, and only communicate on the app. If there's an extra charge for linen, then they can invoice you through Airbnb for it. This way, there's a complete record.

The ONLY time I've paid a host outside of AirBnB was when he set up a driver for us to get from the airport to the rental at KBP as we were arriving after 36 hours of travel and knew that there would be a significant language barrier trying to get a taxi. Obviously outside of the scope of AirBnB.

In my opinion, linens are specific to the room rental, and should be paid through the app.

By the way, two cities we can't wait to visit again are Warsaw and Kyiv. We loved both of them as they weren't full of "Instagrammer tourists" and had a lot of offbeat areas to explore.
