NJ Transit Stops on Ticket

I have a ticket from Penn Station (NY) to Trenton on the NEC. I'm new to the city, and work next to WTC. I was thinking of taking the PATH to Newark-Penn and picking up the NEC there.

Would I have a problem with my ticket since it says from NY-Penn station, even though I'm basically just getting on the train later?

This is for a trip tonight, so I'd appreciate an answer ASAP. Thanks.

No problems. Unlike the airlines, NJT doesn't mind if you get on or off halfway through the trip.

Agreed you won't have any problem. Two caveats:

1) If the ticket is off-peak and you're on a peak train, you may still have to pay a small surcharge, although probably not, since I think a peak NWK-Trenton ticket is $9.25, whereas an off-peak NYP-Trenton ticket is worth $10.25 (a peak NYP-Trenton ticket is $12.50), so I would hope they'd call it a wash.

2) Regardless of the peak/off-peak situation, you may be throwing away a little value by using the NYP ticket on the NWK train. Of course if you won't be taking NJT again in the foreseeable future, you should still use the ticket since there's no sense in buying another one. But if you think you'll be doing NYP-Trenton at some point in the next year, it might be worth buying a NWK-Trenton ticket and stashing away the NYP ticket for future use.

Thanks for the info. My transfer is going to be really tight (< 1 min) so I probably don't have time to buy a new ticket, had I known, I have an off-peak ticket I would've used. Oh well, maybe next time.

Thanks for the information. I'm glad this isn't an issue, it will make my life much easier (and saves me $0.25 by taking the Path instead of MTA to Penn :))
